Backstab

How would i make a ability that did extra damage on a regular attack (like searing arrows) that only did the extra damage if it was behind the units? note that i need it to actually do the damage in the ability so that it can get other bonuses from its other abilities.

When a unit is attacked, compare the facing rotation points between the attacking unit and the being attacked unit. If it is the same as the unit being attacked, or say within a 45 degree angle of deviance on other side, then have it deal bonus damage.

You can find the facing angles of units in the Real data type.

i wouldnt be able to check it but only problem with that is you would have to be exactly behind them, not a degree either side i belive

That's why I put the 45 degree of angle correction in there. That should work to add a little buffer area.

ahh rite ok, thatd mean you could attack from the sides aswell wouldnt it? maybe like 20 degrees instead or sumat?

To a 45 degree variance. For example, if a unit is facing 270 (I believe that's to the south) the backstabber would be able to backstab from 225 - 315, that encompasses directly behind and right angles on either side.

If they attacked from the direct side (say west), it wouldn't work, because 270-90 = 180 and that's too far over
