Bad Upgrade?

I just upgraded my PC to run the following,

AMD 1800+
MSI K7V Turbo2 MB
512 Ram
300w PS
Win XP

After upgrading, I started recieving error after error stating that a file was corrupt or a program was missing a file, or had a bad file and was shutting down. To make matters worse, my PC now randomly shuts down. From time to time it just shuts down and reboots. But if I can get to a game, it will play it just fine and run stable until I exit it, then it reboots.

Is it time for me to F-disk??

Eek a major hardware change can confuse Windows quite a bit although XP can usually figure it out and detect the new stuff. Reinstalling Windows might be a good idea. (Beware of needing to 'reactivate' with Microsoft...although if it has been 120 days since your last activation you won't need to call them on the phone.)

The problem could also be with the new hardware in your system. Random reboots are a sign of overheating... if you go into the BIOS after using the computer for a few hours, what CPU temp does it show?

Corrupt files and program errors can point to problems with the hard drive or memory.

There are a lot of things to consider. Are there any conflicts/problems reported in Device Manager?

Personally I'd fdisk it (actually you can just boot from the XP CD and wipe the partition that way.)
