Basic Mana-Degeneration?

Hey guys,
I use a power-system in my map that turns every structure with less than 1 mana (energy) off. (pauses them and changes vertex coloring to 20% 20% 20%) You have to create power-generators (building with mana-regeneration-aura) next to other buildings so they wont turn off but i dont get how to create a -mana regen for all structures. I tried to set the manaregen in the object manager to - but it didnt work.
any ideas?

Make them use a channeling spell, or a dummy spell that they cast every second or so.

it should also effect building that are able to construct units, and if they construct they cant cast spells

that would work but i dont want to use a trigger for it. i thought about an ability or something.

No ability does that I think... All I can think of is a dummy immolation, or using mana shield and have the game attack it every second.

anyway now that i think about it, it wouldnt make any difference if its an ability or the trigger line would it?

Another thing, have you tried putting a negative value in the buildings' manaregen value field in the object editor?
I hvaen't tried it but it feel like it should be possible :)

Sounds like a nice map idea btw, make sure you post it when it's done :thup:

I vaguely remember doing this once. It's pretty easy. Just take a dummy unit, place it in the middle of the map and give it a negative brilliance aura with huge range. It should only target structures obviously. To add negative values to fields, hold shift while double clicking the field of you choice, then you can add the minus symbol.

did you try it with shift enter ?(should allow you entering negative values)

jup i know how to enter negative values but it didnt work and the brilliance aura wont work because i already use the brilliance auro for the mana regeneration of the power-generators. and brilliance aura wont stack

I'm pretty sure that if you change the buffs each aura gives, it will work.

ill try that

> as far as i can tell it works but its seems to cause problems with pre-placed units (placed some cannons next to a power generator in the editor tested the map and they didnt regenerate mana only after i placed another powergenerator)

Maybe you should remove the ability of mana regeneration of those pre-placed buildings and give them afterwards, with something like;

Code:
Event: Elapsed game-time is 1 second.
Conditions: -
Actions: Remove ability of <your pre-placed power generators>
Wait 0.01 seconds
Add ability to <your pre-placed power generators>

It might work? (wrote it with hand due no WE in front of me)

yeah i tried it it doesnt work

because you never set the settings, open up your map top left click, "file" then click "preferences" check "allow negative real values in the object editor" then click ok and try it.

Another thing, have you tried putting a negative value in the buildings' manaregen value field in the object editor?

this will work now

I have units with negative mana regeneration in my map, and I can verify that it works just fine. All you need to do is what the poster above me said.

how do you guys think ive got a negative brilliance aura working in my map? ofc i have correct settings, maybe i made a mistake while testing negative regen values ill check right away
