battlefield 1942 update problems

when i downloaded the 1.6 patch it screwed my game up. when i click on the icon to play BF:1942 it comes up on the monitor saying

NFREN
OUT OF RANGE

could someone please tell me what the problem is........thank you

When i did the upgrade the game changed the refresh rate, and my monitor didn't support it (black screen) i forced my graphics driver to lock the refresh rate, then i started the game and it worked.

If you don't have that option, open the file in your battlefield dir $battlefielddir\Mods\profiles\custom\video.con

Edit the line:
game.setGameDisplayMode 1280 960 16 60

to fit your monitors capabilities.
If you're not a techie the first 2 are width and hight of the game screensize. To be sure that your monitor is able to show a picture use 800 600

the last numbers are colour depth (16 bit or 32bit) and refresh rate (60Hz)

when i did the upgrade there was a 0 (zero) as the refresh rate value, i guess that the game then opts for the highest refresh rate which's not supported by the monitor
