Battlefield Menu Problem

I've just installed the 1.6 patch, and now when I start the game, the splash screen and the menu is partially off the screen to the right and bottom of my monitor. The game itself is okay. I can't see all the settings in the menu and can't see how to enable PunkBuster.

I would sure appreciate any help. This game has been running fine up until now. I haven't changed any settings in the game, computer, or monitor.

My computer, running XP
Resolution 1024x768 @ 60 Hz
Monitor, 19" LCD
P4, 3.06
512 Mb RDRAM
200 gig hard drive
ATi Radeon 9700 Pro, running Cat. 4.10

I have the same problem, i have a LCD 18.1 monitor from Dell and a ATI radeon 128 MB 9500. intel P4 2.4 GHz
the problem didn't happen in 1.5 or any other versions, only in 1.6

I sent a email to EA, If they give me a answer I will post it in this thread,

When attempting to play the game on ATI video cards using DVI outputs to a flatpanel monitor after installing the 1.6 patch the main menu is displayed larger then the viewable resolution of the monitor.

SOULTION: This is caused by the manner in which the 1.6 patch interacts with ATI video cards using DVI. To allow the game to be run such that the main menu is not oversized the following changes need to be made*:

1. Goto the directory where BF1942 is installed
2. Double Click Mods
3. Double Click bf1942
4. Double Click Settings
5. Right-Click VideoDefault.con and choose Open (if prompted for a program to use select Wordpad)
10. Edit the line renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1 to renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0
11. Save and Close the file.
This will cause the game to run with the main menu at the proper resolution.

Yep, worked for me too. Wish EA would post things like this.

Thanks!

Im having a problem too with my menu screen being off. Although I dont have an ATI card. I have:

Athlon XP 2600+
Ti-4800SE 128

My screen isnt off to the right any. It is just off at the top. The top of the screen appears at the bottom of my monitor. I tried adjusting the file recommended by wargasm and it did not help. I then took out my custom video settings and saved the defaults to see if it would help and it only managed to make the off screen problem occur in the game as well. I had saved my custom settings somewhere else and then reloaded them and managed to get back to where I started. Any advice on this situation? I would appreciate it.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
