BF reboots upon map load
So I've read and read and some folks seem to have this issue and others seem to have fixes but I've spent the entire weekend.
BF runs fine on my athlon 500mhz with 512mb 2000 pro machine (albeit a bit slow at times, not bad (single user).
Moved my hardware to another one of my machines, 1.4ghz intel p4, 1 gig memory 2000 server sp4, Directx .9b and moved the Nvidia Ti 4200 over, my Creative live value and added a modem (fax etc). and I can load up the game, select single player, pick a map, watch it load and it appears when it finishes loading, I get a weird sound thru my speakers and the system reboots!!
System is fine, Volts, Temps, PS is 300 watts, it's not a climate/power issue, it's a driver, system thang.
I've submitted my config to EA to see if they can figure it out. If all fails, I will install XP (Want TS access). Have Win2k pro sitting here but if I'm going to rebuild the box, might as well rebuild with XP!
See the system works fine doing anything but playing this EA game. Too bad, I wanted to see how the game acted with twice the memory and 3x the speed (the system is not overclocked at all).
I've tried the renderer.allowAllRefreshRates "1", no change.
I've also used "NFR" to get rid of all driver files in between updates, nada... So I'm pretty much at the end of my rope, someone toss me a longer one.
Thanks
