BF1942 Is A Pile Of Crap

Let's be honest , this game is real piece of crap, EA should have their arses kicked for releasing this pile of junk.

Never got the game to run and it's going back for a refund.

I have Allied Assault on the same PC withruns with no problems, but this dog crashes to the desktop every time, tried every fix on every forum no joy.

Why the hell should the people that have payed good money have to sort this out ?, where is the EA tech support ?

Have AMDXP1800, Geforce3, 512 DDR, running XP Pro

even blizzards support is tons better then when it comes to Battlefield .

the Dice nor EA does not want to support this forum or give me insight into problems .

so the learning curve to fix problems for BF is rather high .
but now and then a problem get;s solved but not thanks to EA or Dice .

it is that i am stuborn as hell and like to play BF or this forum would have bin deleted ages ago


tried updating the chipset drivers yet btw ?
sounds like you got a via chipset and those buggers can be flaky as hell

Hi Wargasm,

I must admit I don't give up easy as a rule but this game is driving me nuts.

Now to make matters worse, my son tried it on his PC Athlon 1ghz, XP Pro, 512 SDRAM, Soltek M/B with Via chipset ( as is mine as you guessed ) with a Geforce 2 video card, and would you believe it works fine, although a little slow.

Well, that's life I guess :)

Will check for the latest VIA drivers anyway as a final attempt, thanks for that.

Cant get Max Payne to run either, maybe I do need to look at a new mainboard, sans VIA.
 
i run via chipsets myself and when it runs fine golden rule is not to upgrade .
when u got troubles try the latest hyperion drivers .
the tons of agp and ide and pci fixes is uncunning

Runs great for me

And I had an easy install. Although I'm not cheap and learned long ago in the 386 days if you want things to run right stick with the name brands. I run an intel chip, Soundblaster sound card and well supported GeForce4 video card. It's a great game with eight to ten thousand people online playing whenever I log on.

In my opinion, if it doesn't work for you, it's probably your system and not the game. Get a better system and stop being cheap.

i date from the times that Sir Sinclair released the ZX 81 with 1 kb (woaaah) and then moved on the to the speccy yadda yadda etc etc.

i used to buy allways intel and A brand stuff .

till one day i OC'ed my pc a leetle to high and it burned out .
All my components where first class . so i bought a cheap mobo and cheap amd . ran like a dream never crashed .

i done the same with my new barton based amd few weeks ago .
A stuff vidcard and good memory and a known brand vidcard etc etc
cept mobo and cpu where dirt cheap
runs kickass ..

i don't mind buying the cheap stuff cept if i build it and it turns out tobe very unstable i return the stuff and get something else till it works .

course working at a computer store and running the tech department it is easier to return stuff hehehe
 
Wargasm.. just wanted to say thanks to you and dabomb for helpin people out the way you guys do. i originally came on here to see if i could speed loading times with a gig of ram over 512 . and i figure now that i can so ive got it on order should be here tomorrow. but once i saw this site i realized there are alot of unlucky, dissapointed and sad people out there who need help. im not a true wiz in pcs but i do take classes in them and i know a bit about a bit so evernight i come on here and try to give any advice i can to people to try and help them get up and running problem free. it sucks that sometimes there is no answer. And i try to be carefull about saying or recomending the wrong things to people . but Damm something should really be done by EA about these problems. the game is really a fun game . the funnest i have ever played for online play. and for people Who are into games who payed good money for the game to not be able to play for sometimes apparently no reason.. thats not even cool.
And to all the people on here who do get help from someone else please remember it and everyonce in a while come back and check up on this place and see if you might be able to pay back the favor to someone else.
it is really sad that they put this game out in this kind of shape. Hopefully they are working on the problems and are going to come out with patches to fix these problems people are having. becuase it is really a shame for them to be having them and not be able to get any help.. its good that people are pooling knowlage though becuase if everyone in here can give the things that they know to someone else aventually someday we may all be up and running and playing together. but anways ill stop babbelin now. just wanted to say thank ya guyz
 
yeah i noticed you start to post here on a regular basis . wich is a good thing since that is how it allways starts :"very little"

This forum is totally under powered . Me and dabom both had our share of probs with BF. Rapmaster sometimes checks in here but the game is rather problematic to troubleshoot most of the times .

But i think EA (who handles the support) is not gonna make the same mistake with battlefield vietnam bugwise .

But i comfort myself with the fact that even EA tech support recommend to check sites that are not affiliated with EA :)

But we get no headsup on issues . Least with Blizzard and Bioware they are kind enuff they give us a headsup on issues now and then or ask for our help and now and then when a patch comes out we see some Blizz people answering stuff .

But it all boils down to legal disclaimers and legal stuff . The more volunteers we get the better we get.
For us it is a learning thing. It is nice tobe included in beta's now and then but that is not the main thing .

We are independed and we do suggest sometimes off the wall stuff and that is our strength coz we can suggest that and official tech support can't .
