bf1942 laggy as hell after upgrading vid card

I upgraded my vid card from a geforce 3 ti200 to a hercules 9800 pro in the following system. Shuttle ss51g sff, p4 2.4, 512 PC2700, 80GB Hdd. My system was playing BF great with the ti200 and since I upgraded when playing on a lan and chopper wars go on I get like 3FPS and I can't tell what the hell is going on. It is so much lag I can't even play.
Since then I did a total reformat and only installed xpsp1, audio drivers, vid drivers, etc.

still have laggy issue where the game when flying will just pause for a second and then continue. I tried agp drivers and still not solve the issue.

Is this an ATI problem with this game.

Did you install the drivers off your motherboard/system CD or did you grab all the latest drivers from the manufacturers' website? Make sure all of your drivers are up to date and that you have the latest release of DirectX.

If that doesn't help, adjust your sound acceleration in both Windows and in the game (if it's at full, turn it all the way down; it it's all the way down, turn it up to full).
