Hi guys and thanks in advance for any help with this, its driving me mad.

Ok so I had BF2 working fully no problems whatsoever, decided I would like a new headset so bought the TRUST 6200 5.1 dolby surround Headset.

Now as I am aware this product does not use my onboard sound card and has its own internal sound card.

Has worked perfectly for films other games but BF2 is just Horrible very load popping and crackling sounds on the start uo sequence and during game.

Almost unbareable, so come on u techies whats my problem??

running latest DX update
amd 64 athlon 3500+
756 meg ram
6600gt nvidia BFG card overclocked to 545/1140 (525/1050) stock
my 3500 is also over clocked using the asus A8V deluxe on board 10% overclock feature

Umm

I dont really know, USB headsets are a bad idea... as they often generate this type of problem. Ill ask my friend tomorrow about USB headsets -- They are all he uses because his onboard died and he wont buy a 'sound card' xD

Hes bought 3 different USB headsets and they all glitch up one way or another. One, only the right speaker works unless you change it to mono... But then its mono...

If you go with a normal 3.5mm jack its a little more reliable

Cant really tell if its the hardware (headset) or software (drivers), or compatibility with the game.

But its just a headset, so what the heck? It should just work... shouldnt it?

The only real information I can give you is look for different drivers. Even if you are using the most recent one, try older versions. Im not sure on drivers for headsets though... Just seems like an oxymoron to me

I use a plantronics .350 headset, a 26$ headset... Works great, great pickup low (no?) feedback, gets VERY loud and has good bass

~and sorry for such a delayed response... I dont think anyone here pays attention to the battlefield support forum. I wonder why we even have one

This would have qualified for the general technical support forum, which might have got a few more hits. But im sure someone has seen it and just didnt know what to say. I certainly didnt. But we arent ignoring you

Great a constructive but (forgive me) not particularly supprising reply.

It does seem very much a BF2 problem every other game workd fine.

I have been made aware that as I am no longer using a sound card that I might want to look at the DX sound hardware acceleration and reduxe it as USB headsets apparently are not able to use hardware acceleration.

Was not going to do anything till I had some feedback from someone with more knowledge.

but I find it strange that it only happens in BF2 works perfectly with all other top titles and as this is my first USB headset I have nothing but love for it.

The sound quality and dolby 5.1 surround with built in sub etc. is immense the overall benefits while playing games like Americas Army is astounding as you can pretty much here exactly which direction gunfire and footsteps are coming from.

Major advantage and when a flashbang goes of in your ear WOW my whole head vibrates.

Anyway anyone else that can add to this would be greatly appreciated

HAHAHAH That would be annoyng!

But yeah, my friend just bought another USB headset

It sounds fine through MSN live call but when hes on teamspeak it had this really loud sound like a helicopter and generated feedback... It was wierd... I dont know how he fixed it yet he doesnt remember he just changed random settings trying to fix it.

Guess that wasnt very helpful... But anyway

Good luck fixing it, if you havent already. I am clueless. Might want to contact EA (LOL WHAT A JOKE)

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
