About BftC

Battle for the Conquest, Or BftC is a Custom made map for Warcraft 3 Expansion. Having it's origins from Classic RoC. BftC follows the popular map Genre : AoS. But this is the Mini-AoS.​

We indented to make a Map with both Fun elements and Fast Paced action. Realizing that AoS could be a greater option. We made a Map including both Fun and Fast Paced action. However. we purposely made a Small Map.​

This was released first in mid, 2006. Resurrecting and Revitalizing the Classic Mini-AoS Genre that vanished way back in 2005. BftC is the "first" mini-AoS to feature Balanced Heroes, Classes and Abilities and Custom Items at Large. Though the BftC play style was seen before in a Map called "Guardians of Lordaeron", BftC brings everything at large. Having more than 20 heroes currently and over 90 Items to stock.​

BftC's current version is 1.75, Though, Lead Developer, i.e. me, abandoned the project after that release. (March 20, 2007) I was forced to resume work on the Map. With current Version, taking significant game play improvements and two new Classes.​

Apart from being fully Multiplayer, BftC is the first Mini-AoS to feature Computer AI. Which makes the map equally playable in Single Player Mode. The AI is entire designed by ME (Sid) and was not adopted from any map outside. Though the AI is not Insanely Hard to tackle, it presents a significant challenge to even an Expert player. AIs at Insane difficulty seem formidable challenge. Not only because they are slightly "Rigged" but also they gain pretty cool extra combat skills. Adjust the AI skill level appropriate to your skill at start of the game.​

Heroes
- Goblin Engineers.
- Reworked Land Mine. Now it has no Target.<
- Added new classes
- Giant, A melee Tank.
- Shaman, INT support hero.

Items
- Added two new Superchargers.
- Replaced Arcane Scroll by Frost Buckler, tthat grants Frost Breath.
- Replaced Child's Dreams with Orgrim's Stafff, grants Healing Wave.

AI Updates
- Engieers prefer Land Mine over Demolish annd Stasis Trap
- Engineers use the Land Mine well.
- Added Shaman and Giant into AI, and fixed the Item Builds.

Current AI Glitches
- AI Giant using Double Edge may fail sometiimes and end up nothing.
- AI Shaman's Wolf may not Stick around withh Shaman, but has proper retreat behaviour.

Gameplay
- Improved The Last Guardian, now has 8000 HHP and regenerates 25 HP /SEC.
- Improved the Terrain, added few Arcs, and Dense Trees.
- Added a Titan Crystal Circle at the Centerr (Mid Lane), For later use.

I wasn't impresed. I am going to test the map and give some feedback now.... what makes it original and not just another warcraft III map ?

Cause it is fast paced mini-AoS with over 70 items and is completely balanced with a good AI included. There are not mini-AoSs around and definitely not like BftC.

Tested it. First of all many items doesn't mean good items. SOme items are dota rip offs, other are just from melee games, and third type of items are overpowered.

Sid's dagger of escape? O__o never herd of it.... perhaps it is somehow connected with the melee overkill item Keileen's dagger....

The AI is kinda good. Well, the map is simply not "Fast placed" At serten points when you kill a building mini-bosses come out. This is cool.... but those mini bosses almost killed me and gave the other team the upper hand.... This is not fast placed. And a small bug is that if u kill your moonwell, you still get the spawns, so if I destroy it when the players are level 1 then I am going to win in 2 minutes, since they won't be able to stop them.

They aren't ripoff but rather spinoffs.
Also, try out Superchargers.

Plus, consider the cost... It almost takes late game to buy them.

The Elemental Thingy are there to ensure that if one side's or lane's building is destroyed, all of the other sides players don't gang up and push there. As once barracks is destroyed your team cannot spawn any more lane mobs.
Plus, this is actually simple, the minibosses kinda elementals actually, stall the advancement and give the other team a little time. We have balanced them out to make sure that it doesn't interfere with the pace.

Secondly, you are most welcome to destroy your own moon wells, to get the Elementals but consider the cost... You lose your healing and mana restore source for all the rest of game! Plus, Towers are also balanced against the elementals thingy. So that is not gonna help. Try doing it. ;)

Besides, on the brighter side, I liked that you loved AI. It was my second attept to make a good AI and I love positive responses. ;)

Also, did you fought someone really big in the end of game? *wink* *wink*

Yep. A doomguard with a lot of bash :p Good thing is that he only defends :D If he attacked..... I wloud be dead in 30seconds :p

It sounds good but you could have listed out the features, the pros and cons of the map so we like bloodcount said will know that it is not just another aos map.

From the comments you are receiving from your AI, I think it is good too :)

You forgot about screenshots which is something that interest and motivates people to comment or feedback.

Aww, Sorry I forgot to upload 'em.

I'd list pros and cons about the map..

Pro
1. Fast Pace
- Standard game takes about only 30 mins - 1 hour whereas other AoSs take about 1 or 2 hours min. Suitable to take break from serious BNET gameplay or DotA games.
2. Simple Abilities
- Mostly standard war 3 abilities are used, and hence letting players stress their brains to actually figure out what they do.
3. AI
- The AI may not be so great, but can still be considered as feature. You can balance out the slots as you wish. Or for the offline play.
4. FUN
- Who would not enjoy the small sized map with fast gameplay? Specially when getting killed is as funny as killing others... I always enjoy and scream out LOL!! when someone kills me. ;)

Cons
1. Lack of proper gameplay system
- Hero Selection system is just a simple chat message. I'm sorry, but there was no space to place the tavern or selection area in the map. Besides since the map evolved from RoC version, Tavern is out of question. :)
2. Pace that causes concussion sometimes
- People who play EotA or DotA most of the times, find that the speed is simply too much for them. Specially while early to mid game. First time players take awhile to get used to. Unfortunately, the map is not that newbie-friendly.
3. No cool custom or triggered abillities
- Sorry! I got no custom or triggered abilities in this one. Even if I am a moderate level spell maker and have made some nice spells in m other maps, but this hasn't got any.

NOTE:
An extended full sized AoS called BftC: Rearmed and Reloaded is in the developement.
(Call it BftC:R)
Not to mention, again - Fast Paced.
Shall I make a [WIP] thread about the project? I got a few screenies too.

    The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats

    Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality

    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
