So summers coming up fast, its starting to get warmer (at least here it is, sorry if you're not getting the warmth! :p), so that means summer vacation and trips!

Anyone taking any awesome trips anywhere this summer?! Where to?

I'm taking this awesome trip I've been waiting for since last summer. At 15:00 on July 8th, I'll hop into the bus and head southwest. After approximately two and a half hours, I'll reach my destination: home. And the best part about it is I've only got a one-way-ticket. No more army!

It's gonna be legen - wait for it - dary! (Too much How I Met Your Mother lately...)

My big summer plan may be the most lamest plan ever conceived by mankind.

I don't know, get out and have fun? Me and my buddy just meet cool people on Facebook or out and about while we're doing things, and then take beach trips and trips places, and just do stuff like kick it at the pool or go see a movie. It's fun to meet new awesome people and to get out and do things.

Once I actually started going outside my room a few years back, I noticed a lot more enjoyment in life as compared to playing video games all day. But perhaps thats just me, I enjoy getting out and meeting new people. (IE: Hot girls)

Anything that gets me away from textbooks. Definitely lots of outdoors stuff. Hiking, mountain biking, camping, maybe some boating, and in September I'm hopefully doing the Napa Valley Ragnar.

Training for the Davis Double bike race is gonna be hard. Also doing a race to raise awareness for Tuberculosis.

Personally, I just have a bunch of "un-planned planned" beach trips. And by that I mean we have plans to go to the beach with people, but no set dates yet. Other than that, we're going to hit up Six Flags once or twice, and then of course the partying. Yeah boy

Wished I could go to a beach. :( We lack a beach near my college, all mountains and cliffs, no beach. If we have one, the earthquake would just gobble it up.

You can go to a lake. Same thing just no waves. The water would be fresh and if you're lucky and live in a nice place, it'll be clean to. I'd possibly even prefer that over a beach.

The lakes around here suuuuuck in terms of swimming. They're dirty and not very visually attractive. They're pretty much 100% fishing or tubing, if tubing is allowed at the lake you're at.
At least here, if you want to go in the water, you're better off at the beach. And even then, thats not exactly the best either, but it's what we got. haha :)

I just kicked off summer a little early, 2 great weeks in sunny Florida.

My summer is going to mainly consist of gigs and the odd festival, as well as spontaneous BBQs, incense-fueled campfires and effigy burnings. Anyone else going to any festivals? I'm headed to Sonisphere in July at Knebworth, then Iron Maiden in Sheffield a couple of weeks later. And there's Queens of the Stone Age on May 21st, just after my birthday. Only real downer is that many people I know will be moving away at the end of it to Universities and such... I'm too lazy to move away though so am studying right here :p

Well my friends are very impulse, and we decided last night to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain today (a theme park, for all you none-US peoples), and that was pretty fun. It was the weekdays, so you could pretty much walk up to any ride and instantly get on. However, we got stuck about half way up the chain hill on the tallest one there (Goliath), and after sitting there for 30 minutes and them telling us "Standby for reset" and it not working like 6 times, we had to evacuate the train...

...this involved walking down the steps of the rollercoaster chain hill. Oh shit...
This is like half way up the hill, so its 150ft+, the feet holds are the iron mesh completely see through stuff, and theres 2 bars, one in the middle so you can't fall through the middle and one to hold on to. That was the shittiest thing I've had to do in like 3 years. LOL, I was scared completely shitless, you have no idea how much it sucks so much walking down those, I never want to do that again. I was clinging that bar for dear life, the whole thing sways, and it just was absolutely one of the scariest things I've done in awhile. lol

What we had to climb down:

Never again... D: haha

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
