I'm just in the process of finishing off my 2 Player Co-op RPG game and the last LAST thing i need to do is create a epic boss fight at the end of the game and smaller Fixed Raid bosses. There are only 2 players so 2 heroes!

Thats why i'm asking you guys for ideas. What would you like to see in a boss fight.

Give me your ideas for Fixed Raid Bosses and the Last Boss fight and you'll get +rep :).

make the boss hard to kill and some secrets should be there. Like on tow tower hills there should be 2 switches, if they are pressed at the same time, a rock falls on the boss damaging him by 10%. You could also make a riddle at the end of the boss fight when he gets under 1% of his hp he runs somewhere and you have to find a way to him before he regenerates :)

Since it's a two player RPG, I'd love to see two bosses.
Maybe one boss is a support, while the other is the DPS.
The support uses things like Inner Fire, Healing Wave, Slow, etc.?
While DPS uses things like Endurance Aura, Searing Arrow (Modified if he's melee), etc.?

On the other hand, if you just want one boss..
I hate single bosses that have an overpowered heal, you get them to 100hp, then they heal to full.
However, a small heal is quite good.
If you have a hero that uses mana burn in your map, having the boss use mana is nice, it actually makes mana burn useful.

For raid bosses.
I would say each boss should have it's own theme maybe.
Ex: one boss that uses Flame Strike you have to dodge.
One that uses a 'Frost Nova/Blast Strike' you have to dodge..
Maybe one summons a 10 second slime that's invulnerable and if it touches a player they either die/lose a lot of HP.
Something that makes it actually challenging.

I believe I read your thread on your map, and from the comments it said it was pretty challenging and/or needed a brain :p
You should keep it that way, even with bosses.
Make them actually require the player to do something, instead of just hack and slash them to death.

I think things like two bosses makes that happen.
You would generally need to take out the support first.

The slime idea does that too, since you have to move out of it's way instead of just tanking it. (The slime could even reduce a player to 1% hp)

Anyways, hope that helps!
PS: I know I've been telling everyone to take a look, but my Spell Idea Thread might help you come up with some good ideas for boss spells.

I really loved that idea WolfieeifloW! The Slime will be put into the final boss.
and i was actually going to put in an Overpowered heal for the boss, but i might just change it to heal 50% of its health.

The Boss will be dynamic, with multiple cinematic endings depending on what happens. Its also going to be frustrating for the Player, as they each have 3 lives durin gthe boss fight. If they both loose all their lives, then they loose the entire game and a cinematic is played.

Also going to add a temptation phase, where the Players get wispers which only they can see from the boss when it reachs 1% (and goes invunrable) telling them to kill their ally because he will betray them (the option to betray your ally at the end will be there). I'll try and make it so it looks convincing, and that the other person will kill their ally. If one of them hits the lever, they both die and the boss wins :D - its to test peoples faith in each other :D

Having an "overpowered heal" on a single boss is something I don't like..
If you do the two boss idea, you can use Healing Wave, and make the initial hit (The hit on the DPS boss) heal for a crapload, like 80% or whatever, but then make the bounce hit for like 25% maybe?
That way, players are sort of 'forced' to kill the support first.

PM me or something if you need more ideas or want to discuss things.
I have tons of ideas and am fully willing to help/talk them over with someone who will put them to use!

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
