Starcraft ends up crashing within a couple minutes after joining any game(single or multiplayer) and also crashes on battle.net chat interface
------
Running under (Listing all versions of drivers I have tried)
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 (build 2600)
Board: ECS K7S5A 1.0
Bus Clock: 66 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 07.00T 04/02/01
1466 megahertz AMD Athlon XP
512 SDRAM pc 133
NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 (43.45/41.09)
Hercules DigiFire(tm) 7.1 (6.09a/retail)
*Soundblaster Live 5.1 xgamer(Problems where present with this card as well)
Direct X 9.0a(9.0/8.1)
--------
I have tried fresh installs with 2 different cdkeys(One set of out of the box cds)
I have not found any viruses on my computer via Nortan antivirus 2002(which has its auto functions disabled)
None of the Starcraft files are fragmented or in a bad sector on the harddrive(plenty of swap space too)
I have tried turning off power management and forcing the display mode to 640x480 @ 256 colors
-----
I have been able to run:
Everquest
Unreal Tournament 2003
Masters of Orion 3
Jedi Knights II
Dungeon Siege
recently without any problems(dvds play fine as well)
Anyone have any suggestions short of upgrading computer parts or downgrading to a win98 machine?
I would really like to get Starcraft to work since some of my friends believe its the only game worth playing.
