Ok I have cable with my cable company 40$ a month for the actual cable and 25$ a month for dsl.

I got the DSL and it had 5 free months of cable. June 1st was the date the 5 months were over.

So the past 5 months i have been loading any websites in miliseconds, download at 500kb/sec, now i have dsl guess wat!!!! Takes aprox 1 min to load th.net

I dl about 3kb/sec or lower.

IS THIS TOTAL BS OR WHAT?

I literly cant play half the online games i have anymore or i will drop out, but you only need 64KB to play them it says, hahaha funny i have dsl but i still can't play them.

1st, Turn the power off on your DSL modem for about 5 min and turn it back on. If its still slow, call your ISP. There should be nothing in there to change the speed. Even the slowest of DSL's (128/128), dont take 3 minutes to load any site. Sounds like there is actually a technical problem.

Look though your package info... chances are your DSL is a 1.5/128 so this shouldnt be happening. If you reset and your ISP says nothing is wrong, tell them you want to speak to a supervisor. Basically, dont take no for an answer. You have to bully them into it.

They said that the dsl is the same as 56k but a LITTLE bit faster.

Does DSL work differently in the US to how it runs in Australia? Here, DSL runs over the phone lines, it doesn't run over separate cables. Because of this, I am a little confused by your post, so perhaps if a US citizen could clarify this for me.

Anyway, the DSL technology typically has a bottom floor speed of 256k down and 64k up - these days many ISPs offer at least 512k down / 128k up. Some friends I have in the US are getting free upgrades recently for around 4000 / 768 down/up speeds. So whoever told you DSL was a little bit faster than a 56k dialup modem is currently growing a nose to beat anything pinnochio could achieve.

So yes, you are being BS'ed around, follow lordloki's advice, he knows what he is talking about.

Yes, over phone lines, but his cable company also owns that. So hes technically 'getting his dsl' from the cable company.

56K, I had a similar problem for like four days, and called comcast.

My problem was internal, and I didn't know. I already tried unplugging my router, and resetting it.

I found out the cable modem has to be on FIRST, for at least a minute to fully sync.

THEN the router can come on. Otherwise, all that I was getting was desyncs and collisions.

At least my tech support guy was 'smart'. I know DSL modem different than cable, but maybe its worth a try.

Once I did that, I was back in business.

Yes, on monday i changed companies, and im now on bell, which is what the company is called. Im getting DSL, supposed to be 3000k, for 35$ a month.
