Buff Stacking Problem - Any way to import your OWN buffs?

Hi there!

I noticed you can't have buffX and copy-of-buffX (with other name,...) on a unit at the same time. :banghead:

Why the fuck have new buffs to be based on original buffs. I don't get it. :nuts:

Well. I wanted to map a melee addon with new units/spells -> new buffs.
(I don't want to remove any original spell from the game)

Bad idea?

Is there any solution?



Example of a new spell:

For 10 seconds, target unit loses 25 health whenever target unit attacks a unit with less health.

I really cant get your question....u can make ur custom buff inside the object editor...right?
And u can just base on something like...Invisible...
This buff can stack as much as you can...

By the way, everything from units to abilities has to be based on an already existing one.

I know that. And that's a pity. Is there no way to create new spells without killing existing ones?

Are there any nearly never used buffs I could use?

u WONT kill the existing one By copying it to the custom spell underneth the object editor...U CAN COPY IT...sry for the caps

I do alwayz copy the invisibility buff as much as i want to use as custom buff

No you can't. Try it. Buff1 will block Buff2. I can upload my testmap if you want.

(just try the buffs "slow" and a copy of "slow" with other name and icon on two different spells. that won't work.)

Slow, poison buffs get overwritten by other slow, poison buffs. Higher level buff will replace lower level buff. For poison abilities there are data fields what determine will it stack or something similar.

just tried the "stacking" poison buff. did not work.

I think the problem is: two similar basic spells remove each others buffs.

Fairy fire and a fairy fire based spell didnt work.

That I do not know, how can DotA menage to have so damn many slows... All stacking (as far as I know, have seen). ><

I thought buffs did nothing, except art...(tooltip = art in my mind. ^.^).
Aren't their buffs used only for campaign reasons? Why not use these?

A unit CAN'T have two buffs (based on the same original buff) at the same time. This is a major limit in the wc3 engine.
(and no, DotA haven't solved this, there are many buffs that override each other)

You can simulate a buff by adding an aura to the unit, hide the aura ability in an invisible spell book. Pretty lame though.

one thing I don't get: it's not only the 2 buffs thing.

slow spell with slow buff and slow-copy-spell with 'insert a name here' buff, won't work either.
