yes it does - the end result is clear if you eat enough fast food - while you may still be underweight, you are still going to be fatter as a result of the fast food than you would have been if you ate "regular" food instead

Getting fatter than you should be isn't what we're talking about; it's the idea that eating fast food puts you at risk of obesity. Of course fast food makes you fatter; it has more calories than normal food. But to say that it's the cause of obesity is like saying that the lottery people are to blame for you blowing 3 million dollars at the casino - it's one of the factors involved, but definitely not the cause.

Again, it's only a contributing factor and can be overridden by other, healthier factors, as this guy shows.
Well, If you limit your calories and exercise, you are going to lose weight! It's that simple. But what did he "eat before this experiment?" Any exercising before?

But to say that it's the cause of obesity
it is a cause of obesity - there is no getting around it, eating fast food -> weight gain -> obesity - it's not like there are alternative things that the fast food does.. if you want a comparison, gambling will slowly make you broke - there is no alternative - gamble enough, and you will go broke

But by that analogy, if you eat a certain amount of fast food then you'll be healthier and better off than you were before, as long as you know when to stop.

It's no more a cause of obesity than almost any other food. Eat enough of it and it will make you fat. That's what happens when you consume more calories than your body can utilize, obviously. The cause of obesity is a direct result of the consumer's choices, not by food itself. When they choose not to exercise or plan meal types and intake accordingly, obesity is the result. Fast food is definitely a less healthy choice compared to many foods and a contributing factor to many peoples' obesity, but no one is becoming obese by eating fast food and otherwise taking care of their bodies.

this I will agree on, since you do need to eat - but it does not need to be fast food, any food will do, although knowing when to stop may be difficult

nope - fast food induces over-eating by condensing calories - no-one can gain significant weight by eating broccoli without spending hours eating it since it simply doesn't have a high amount of calories

Yeah, almost any other food. Most people I know eat regular meals with a variety of meats, grains and vegetables, as well as the lazier frozen items like pizza or chicken wings and what not. Apple pie or chocolate cake are just as bad or worse for you than fast food, but they don't 'cause' obesity in the same way because people actively make a choice not to consume them in excess. Unless you're suggesting that, for whatever reason, we view fast food as more benign than other things that are just as bad for you, I still don't think it contributes to obesity any more than any other regular meal. At least you have portion control with fast food, whereas very few people portion out their home meals properly.

Arguing's always fun, especially when the other side's perspective makes sense. Trying to get people to see things the way we see them is something a lot of us get some level of satisfaction from. Granted, racism sure helps things get interesting a lot more quickly, but the same principles apply.

so how many portions is a big mac meal(1300+ calories if you go burger+fries+drink)? somehow I am imagining it as way worse than any "home meal"..

and how long will it keep you full after all those calories?
heck I would compare it to a small tub of Haagen-Dazs ice cream - the ice cream is cheaper, has less calories (1000 calories for 2 cups), but would probably keep you full longer

Eh, probably not. A Big Mac is going to be higher in protein and carbs, and is a lot denser. McDonald's food isn't that bad, for the most part it's the same shit you'll get at sit-in restaurants. It's just designed to be faster.

London (CNN Business) Burger King has suggested that one of its beef burgers deserves a Michelin star — and the marketing campaign has caught the eye of the respected culinary guide.

The fast food giant's Belgian arm launched a petition demanding a sought-after star for its new Master Angus burger, encouraging followers to sign an online petition aimed at Michelin Guide inspectors.

"All right, we'll happily concede that 'star-rated' and Burger King aren't an obvious match at first sight," the fast food chain admitted.

But, the company added, "How many places does your little red book have that serve exceptional dishes that are on the table in five minutes?"

"We deserve that little star, don't you think?" the advertisement continued.

Now you can enjoy the taste of Milky candy in a milk-tacular milkshake.

The joys of McDonald’s in Japan lies in their incredibly innovative seasonal menus, which can contain anything from springtime sakura delights to collaborations with famous chocolatiers like Godiva.

One company that has never crossed the McDonald’s collaboration threshold is Fujiya, a household name in Japan due to their incredibly tasty cookies and creamy hard candies. Their flagship milk candy Milky is especially famous, with statues of Peko, the girl from its packaging stationed all over Japan. Its slogan, “Milky wa mama no aji” (“Milky is the taste of Mommy“) is still famous to this day. Here, the “taste of Mommy” stands in for the comforting, warm presence that children are likely to feel towards their mother, rather than anything salacious.

That all changes on April 21, when McDonald’s and Fujiya will join forces to bring McDonald’s customers a brand new treat in the form of “McShake Milky no mama no aji” (“Milky’s Taste of Mommy McShake“), plus a collaborative “Waffle Cone Ichigo no Milky no mama no aji” (“Strawberry Milky’s Taste of Mommy Waffle Cone“) soft serve.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
