I want to make a skill where the scorpion burrows into the ground, then unburrows at the target location. Ive tried alot of things, but i cant get it to work.

The scorpion has no burrow animation, therefor you must use something such as the druids bear form. I suggest making a stationary unit for it to morph into, give it permanent invisibility and set the 'Blend Time' to 0. The model could be something like... I dunno... maybe the tree stump doodad?

The scorpion does have a burrow animation o.O Its Burrow (Neuteral Hostile).

Well I just figured it didnt, doesnt seem like blizzard to add something that you might actually need

So use the neutral hostile burrow then?

Grr...I dont want him to just burrow, I want him to burrow, then unburrow at the target location. So its like hes burrowing through the ground, and pops up at the target location.

OIC!
Hope your good with triggers :p

Make a dummy burrow ability based off of death and decay, no art, the icon should be burrow, no damage etc.

When you start the effect of the ability play its burrow animation, then replace it with the burrowed scorpion (Seperate unit). Order that to right-click to the point, if you want give it locust and wait for it to pop up, then add it to the players selection again. Then you can deal damage or whatever when you convert back to normal... if you wanted damage that is :P

Holy crap lol, plz post the actual trigger if u feel up to it :)

i actaully just made this last night for nerubian overlord, this is what i did

a channel ability, with animation morph, and impale target dust caster art when that is cast, create a dummy unit with dummy impale, and make it impale target of channel spell cast by the hero, then move the hero instantly to the target point of ability, and play it's morph animation alt.

that should do the trick, if you have any questions I can show you the code of needed, but I like people to try for themselves, experiment, and learn :)
Iv'e given you the foundation, you should be able to do the rest...

you could also use shock wave, or locust storm, put the missile are as the burrowed scorpien, and then when hes done casting, move him to point that he casted to (with triggers). hide him while hes casting, and unhide him after hes done.

animation - play morph animation for scorpion
wait 1 second
move scorpion to where you want him to uborrow
animation - play morph alternate animation for scorpion

base it from impale if you want it to be like Dota, else base it from blink.

In either case make animation of casting to burrow one..

If you want dota style burroystrike, add a simple trigger

Events unit casts blah blah
Condition ability is blah blah

Actions, Wait (whatever the animation takes)
Move unit instanyly to (target point of ability being cast

HOLY MACARONI POST 100 IM A GOD!

Thats from dota too? Can anyone come up with thier own spell?? My god what has happened to the mapping community -_-

no that is not from dota. dota has a spell called "Burrow Strike" but it is not this ability. burrow strike is the impale spell that also teleports you. this is more like a blink strike.

everyone seems to be saying what i posted over and over again...just do this, and it shoudl work

Ugh... why the HELL does everyone keep talking about the impale spell? Tom Green NEVER said ANYTHING about impale.

ok scratch teh impale then, jsut have em do the anim, move instantly to target, then other anim, and ur done

heres a really easy, trigger free way to do it. it may not look exactly how you wanted because it will only show the burrow animation and then teleport instead of unburrowing, but this way is really easy and i just checked it for myself and it still looks pretty cool.

1. Use the Blink ability.
2. Change the "Art - Animation Names" from spell, throw to just morph
3. Delete the "Art - Area Effect"
4. Delete the "Art - Special"
5. Change the Hero Duration from 0.33 to 1.0 (this is the time between when you cast and when you actually blink. changing it to 1.0 gives you just exactly enough time for the burrow animation to finish, as soon as he is burrowed he will teleport to the target location)

and thats it.

Thx alot ppl, im gonna try all of the diff ways i saw :) Im slowly gettin better at triggers thx to this site X)

Edit: Well I did the channeling ability morph idea, and it look s fine when he burrows. However, when he unburrows, it plays the correct animation, hes frozen, and has no abilities and cannot be moved o.O Or, he'll play the burrow animation over and over again! Weird things lol. Heres the trigger, and the map that u can upload too, to see if i did something wrong with the channeled ability.

Burrow Surprise Spell
Events
Unit - A unit Begins casting an ability
Conditions
(Ability being cast) Equal to Burrow Surprise
Actions
Wait 2.00 seconds
Unit - Move (Casting unit) instantly to (Target point of ability being cast)
Animation - Play (Casting unit)'s Animation - Morph Alternate animation
Animation - Reset (Casting unit)'s animation

Edit: ROFL ROFL ROFL!!! NM! I got it fixed, i just used Breath of Fire as the base skill X) (Wow, 3 edits lol)

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content

  • The Helper The Helper:
Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
