Download WinMPQ there. Open up WinMPQ and then open your war3.mpq or war3x.mpq archive. As you can guess, war3x.mpq is the expansion, and war3.mpq is the original. All the maps are under the maps section and extract or double click them to open them.

ok, so i downloaded the file, and it runs fine and everything. I can open it, but now i dont know how to extract any of the files from the game. Ive got like 5 new icons in my war3 archive, and i think its because of the mpq thing and it palced them there, but i have no idea how to extract the war3 campign maps. Any tips would be great

ok so i got the war3 file into the mpq program and it has like every file in the entire game and i have been searching for the campigns, and i dont know if they will have some funky lettering in front of them, go by the campign name, or if they will go by individual maps. pls update me with the latest tips or anything that might be usefull

ok so i got to the maps in the origonal game, but i still cant find the maps in the expansion (thats kinda ok cause i really wanted the origonal ones neway). I was hope you could help me find them.

Right click the map and choose "Extract". The campaign for TFT is in the "War3x.MPQ". You can also extract all the buttons, screens, models, and icons from the .MPQs.

if you are using WinMPQ and can't read what's inside the mpq archives, then see the FAQ utilities section in this forum for the "Listfile" (which has to be imported into winMPQ)

The only Warcraft III .MPQ file that can'tbe read without "listfile" is the Warcraft III .MPQ patch file.

Hey, aren't there certain triggers used in the campaigns that are "blizzard only"? (I remember hearing that somewhere) Does this give you access to them, or do they come out stripped, like a protected (a.k.a damaged) map?

i can answer that one

when you get access to the blizzard maps you get access to everything. I have looked at the maps, and i have not seen anything on that order. I would immagine that all the triggers used by blizzard are triggers that you could use, because then they would have to go through the effort for making the new triggers.

Blizzard does not condone map protecting in any way, and they are highly against it. They believe everyone should share the knowledge , but are still aware that people can steal other people's map ideas. All their maps are out there, and for the user's eyes. They are quite advanced though, and it will take some time to decipher some of their greatest maps. (like their TD)
