You can only have 5 hero skills. You can add another regular skill though, there's room for one more.

Doesn't that disable xp and lvling? I've heard that somewhere... = /

No.

It can be unlimited if you use spellbooks..

Spellbooks are in the item part of the object editor and it is like a builder's building inventory.

Yes.. but their limit is so big.. like adding 14 spells makes the spellbook basically infinite.. because if your going to have more spells then that.. you can just add another unit.. but anyways no unit should have more than 14 spells because he wouldn't be able to control his guy knowing which spell to cast when.. it would be too confusing if you ask me.. but yes you are correct in saying that the spellbook is physically limited.. but its got a good limit..

You can shift click and add the raw data and have a ton, but you dont have many slots so after you choose 6 (4 on bottom row, 2 in middle row) you should disable the rest. Or you can use spellbooks, even make a trigger that increases the level of an ability when you learn it then you can have 12 (12 Hero ability slots, well 11 counting Cancle)

Spellbooks are limited.

You can always have a tree of Spellbook abilities in spellbook abilities

But remember this guys, You can only have as many spells as the game includes. Since each custom spell you make is based off an existing spell, and each existing spell has their own Order String.

Since you cannot have two spells with the same Order String on the same unit (lest you want to cast two spells at once) there is a limit to the number of spells a unit can have.

Last time I counted there where 348 total Order Strings.

Also, please correct me if I am wrong so I don't continue to spew falsehoods.

Nope, that's exactly right. You made an excellent point: You can duplicate spells, but NOT order strings.

The only thing that might get in the way is if having 1 order string in 1 spell book ability, and that same order string for a different spell in another spell book ability manages to cancel out the effect, but I doubt it :)

Yeah, I learned about Order Strings the hard way. I had two spells casting and it took about 7 hours before I ever noticed that field in the editor. I felt so dumb.

Oh yeah, went through that in a game called Shoot Out where I had two abilities:
Shoot Ground
Shoot Aerial

Never got the right one to work because BOTH came off Shockwave -.- Stupidity of Alexander.

Unfortunately, that likes to crash Warcraft.

Considering saving in bnet is impossible, you wouldn't really need to have more than 10 skills per hero.

You can't have more than 5 learnable hero skills for a hero, not directly, now that spellbooks with channel work and that we have SetUnitAbilityLevel you can make a whole system to simulate the increment of skill levels using a lot of dummy abilities to spend skill points.

How often does the Trending Content box refresh?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Also, in the last template there was a seperation between sticky threads and regular threads in the forum
  • Ghan Ghan:
Not sure. It's probably part of a cron job.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hey Ghan, whatever cron job its part of its not running its been the same for days. If it does not work can we remove it?
  • The Helper The Helper:
    LOL! A tweak job!
  • The Helper The Helper:
this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I changed the settings a bit.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Narrowed it to 7 days for the half-life and set views to 0 weight.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I dont think Trending would work for this forum it would be better to just have the last 5 posts from anywhere
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably will have to give it some time to update.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I'm guessing it is not retroactive.

Next on the punch list: Update the server to Ubuntu 24.04.

One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I've seen that as well.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
  • The Helper The Helper:
oh wow, i bet i can post x links now and do the webp pics now giggity
