Can item abilities have levels?

I have a number of item abilities made. When I add them to a unit and try to set the level of teh ability, I get only the level 1 stats for it.

Any ideas?

only way i know of to make items to have levels, is upgrade them.. like make 5 of the same item.. edit 5 abilitys of hte spell, give each 5 of the spells the upgrades, then use triggers to make them upgrade when you rebuy the item..?

Hmm same thing happens as a unit ability.

I am using Item Life Bonus. I have added levels to it, but the only effect I get is for the 1st level.

Any ideas Rad?

So that the hero has more max hit points, or more max mana points, or better mana regen, or..or...

but there's no point in giving it LEVELS if the level's cant be modified via the item. if you want the hero to be able to level up the ITEM, make multiple items with the same ability but at different levels. then give a trigger to give the hero the ability, in the hero abilities menu, *upgrade equipped item* then, make a trigger that says when a hero learns the ability upgrade equipped item, have that hero unlearn that ability, change the item in the inventory to a higher level one, then give the hero the upgrade equpped item ability again if the item has not reached its max level. this requires some basic variable knowlege but not too much.

I would like to modify a hero's max hit points, max mana, mana regen, etc. etc.

To make seperate items will require about 60 odd items and a mess of trigger code.

Aren't there any max life, life regeneration, mana, etc. abilities that have levels, item , unit, or otherwise? That seems unbeleivable.

It appears item abilities CANNOT have levles even if you make them unit abilities or even hero abilities.

Therefore, does anyone know any native hero abilities that do the following:

Increase Max HP
Increase HP regeneration
Increase Max Mana
Increase Mana regeneration
Increase Movement Speed

If there aren't any hero abilities for these things that I can level with, I'll be forced to make a ton of item abilities. (Yuck)
