Can't Host / Can't Connect to Battle.net and Other Common Fixes

Ranik: Everyone can host if they can log on to Battle.net, but when other people can't join, that means you "can't host". Which in your case, you do the steps in the first post.

My Problem: I can log on to USWest,Europe, and Asia, but NOT USEAST. Why? I get the error "Unable to connect. You may be trying to connect to an invalid Battle.net server...". It started recently, one time i was playing fine, and logged off for about 5 min, when i come back, i get that message. I already re-installed WC3 and it still isn't fixed. I know it's not my firewall (in the computer), because i don't have any. I have a modem (2wire HW1000) and router.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I think i know what the problem is. After reading a few posts about this issue, i see that you may also get that message when you are banned. Me and my brother have 4 cd-keys (Legit). Since we want to play on the same server, USEAST, we didn't know which one's we had, so we used CDKey changer and messed around with it. I guess they banned us for doing that (My brother can't go there either).
Only thing i wonder, is it a perma ban? >_<

Would help if you told us which OS, what you see, screenshots, etc.. It's hard to point at your monitor and tell you, "there it is."

i did what u said, went to windows firewall opened those ports. and then my linksys page following that port forwarding site u had there. and when it came to the point when I had to type in the application and then ports and stuff. i didn't know what to put in the application. shuld I put Warcraft III or war3.exe or what?

All routers block most ports by default. Your router should have an option along the lines of; 'Virtual Server' or 'Special Application'.

No.
But it will ask you to fill in 192.168.1.X
The X dictates which client you are opening the port for.
Try to find something along the lines of 'Client List' and see which # yours is, then fill that is accordingly.


I think that's where most people go wrong.

so lost

i can do all the things described in this tutorial with ease
i have a 3 step process in getting to my internet
things come in from on the DSL line to my modem
then to my router
then to my computer
my router is a WRT54G linsys router
my modem is an actiontec modem with wireless gateway

for some reason I CANT HOST
iv tried porting
iv tried disableing firewalls alltogether
iv tried DMZ's on both my modem and my router
(and yes i set it so the dmz opens up to my router then my router dmz opens up to my computer)
i have disabled all firewalls on my computer
and all anti-virus/security programs

and i cant host
im completely lost here folks
any guesses?
any help would be greatly appreaciated

I have a guess.... some routers dont do the whole port thing, thats what mine's problem was, so if your router can't do ports then it doesnt work.

i think you missed the point of me saying it has a DMZ pointed to my computer
a dmz is a de-militarized zone
aka
no blockage
whatsoever
therefore no my knowledge there is nothing blocked from my modem or my router
thats why this is so frustrateing
