Can't start Warcraft III

Please help!!!I installed the game, but when I try to run it I get
blue screen and this mesage:

" A fatal exception OD has occured at 0202:015F8861. The
current aplication will be terminated."

Every time I try to strart the game I get this message, but it is
always with different numbers. Sometimes I keep pressing SPACE
button when I get this error message and it returns me to Windows and I can see Loading window with the pictre of Orc, and that is as far as I can get.

My spec. are:
-Athlon 1.4, 3D
Prophet 4500 64 Mb ( latest drivers),
-Gigabyte GA-7ZX-H ( VIA KT133A) motherboard with latest drivers,
- Win 98
-512 RAM


P.S. I don't get this error when I run other games.I also noticed
another strange thing: in Warcraft III folder where
the game is installed, I can see all the usual folders ( eg. Saved
games, replays, movies, maps, BNU Update...etc.) and Icons with
which you start game ( little icon of Orc under which it says
Warcraft III) and icon of paper and pen with which you start World Editor.

But besides these two icons there are two more: War3 and WorldEdit that are just text, without any avatars or picures. I can also double-click them and again I get the error message, but this time with different numbers.

Also, I downloaded latest War3 patch (1.2) and when I
double-clicked on it the screen went black and only thing on it
was little window showing patch installing. Once the patch was
installed screen went blue, I got fatal exception OD error and I
had to reinstall.

P.P.S. When I try to start War 3 without CD in CDROM I still get error mesage instead "please insert CD" message.
Strange.
 
I replied to your post on the b.net forums, but you'll probably get some good advice here as well.

The war3.exe and worldedit.exe files don't have icons on my system, either, and the war3.exe edit works fine. (I have CD-Rom issues that preclude me from running the world editor, but I'm no good at that stuff anyways).

And the message you're getting while trying to start with no CD in the drive is perfectly normal.

Other than that, I don't have any brilliant ideas. But if you provide your full system specs (you've put most of them in, but sound card, manufacturer, and CD-Rom are often a help in pinpointing problems), and let us know what you've done to try and fix this, someone who's smarter than me may be able to help.

You said you've installed the patch - have you tried a reinstall? Virus scan? Defrag? OS reinstall? Have you tried running on one stick of RAM only (if your 512 is in 2 sticks of 256)? Have you tried anything from Blizzard's support files? Have you run Windows update? Have you updated all of your drivers (you've indicated you've updated some of them)?
 
Thanks for replaying Martini. Starting Warcraft 3 withoud CD and getting blue screen and 'fatal exception error' is strange thing, because you should get 'please insert CD in CDROM and not fatal exception error.

Ah - sorry, I thought you meant that when you start with no CD, you get an insert disk error rather than the usual error, but you were saying it was the other way around. And what you're describing with the patch is again, perfectly normal, up to the bluescreen part.

So, whatever you do in connection with the game, you get the same error message. That *is* strange.

Give us an update with what else you've done. In addition to my earlier suggestions, if your computer has any diagnostic programs, you may want to run those, to see if you can pinpoint any problems (I know Dell has these for its computers, but don't know how widespread they are, so your manufacturer may not have one).

And I think a complete uninstall, including deleting the Warcraft III folder (after backing up any save files - in the Profiles folder, IIRC), and then a reinstall would also be a good idea.
 
War 3 is working. I borrowed Norton Anti-virus from friend and it cleaned viruses from my system. The game is now working perfectly :) . Wooohoooo

    It's actually remarkably easy to make mayonnaise though. Fun fact, it USED to kind of be a French mother sauce. I believe that Careme considered it one, it may have been aioli but that has also built a different meaning than it used to. An aioli is just mayonnaise I mixed with other shit typically, I didn't start it don't come at me

    Depending on how you pour the oil the consistency can vary wildly, but that's true for most emulsions. I can only make about two quarts at a time with my robo coup, and if I have to make several in series because I forgot to order it becomes really obvious even when I do it. We have to wait and mix them all together to make sure we have the same thing.

    Hollandaise is also kind of like that, emulsions require a very steady hand to do exactly the same every time.

    Luckily I live in an age with electricity so it's way fucking faster, but when I was just a boy trying to find my place I had some hardcore chefs that made use do things like that by hand. It is WAY easier to get right by hand because you control it and can feel it, but it takes soooooo much longer. And on the scale a modern kitchen requires... I serve 400-500 guests on average per day right now, if I had 100 then we could do things way better

We have about 100 days of summer, and if that summer doesn't make us what it will, then I can't operate the other most of the year with my staff. The owner is talking about closing two days a week to cut down on labor, I told him he should cut down on vacations and it did not go great. I do think I won though, I have to keep my fucking core staff and they have to be gainfully employed

I can go to 25 if she keeps up. I need to get her onto line more, that's what she wants, but I need her where she is and it's not fair that she doesn't get the little bit of raise that comes with it. She can do it no problem, I've worked with her there.

    They won't get feel down while they do the thermometer, but we didn't have an instant read probe when I was learning. Like they did but god knows how off it is, you HAD to do it by feel. Even if the chef was fine with me bringing my own, it takes too long. Poke and know
