Chain Lightning attack animation?

Hi, i've tried so many different ways to get that chain lightning look for normal attacks (like Lightning Revenant from DotA) but what ever i do it doesnt go as it should, can any1 help me to acomplish this?

So when some1 attacks, it should shoot that lightning animation from CL but not chained, only to 1 target.

Hmm, i get the last impact animation on the target, but no chain between me and the enemy :S

look at the chimaera units of the nightelfs, they got a skill which does the lightning effect with each normal attack, the attack got to be ranged of course...

but the chimaeras attack is blue i think he's talking about that red thingy

just cahnge the lighting effect to be the finger of death one... not too hard now is it?

If you look closely at Razor's attack you'll see a ball of red lightning that razor shoots after the red lightning - That's the unit's missile, and the lightning is triggered ( i believe.. ) something like that:

events - A unit attacks a unit
conditions - unit type of triggering unit equal to your unit
actions -
create 1 dummy for owner of blabla at position of your unit
add "ligtning attack (custom ability)" to last created unit
order last created unit to orc far seer chain lightning attacked unit
add 2 seconds expiration timer to last created unit

I also ran into this problem...give the unit you want to have the attack animation the ability "lightning" it should work

Manix, if that was the method for razor's attack then the black screen for dota would take ages to clear up and the unit count for whoever was useing razor would be in the hundreds if not thousands, really its cuz a lightning attack (found under night elves, chimeras use it) with a modified lighting effect (to be the finger of death lightning)

There's a script that spawns a lightning effect directly, I imagine they used that...

Have you tried making a trigger like this:

Lightning Attack
Events -
Unit - A Unit is Attacked

Conditions -
(Attacking unit) is a Unit of Unit Type (What Ever)

Actions -
Lightning - Create a lightning effect of Effect Type Finger of Death from (Position of (Attacking unit)) to (Position of (Attacked Unit))
Lightning - Destroy (Last Created) Lightning Effect

Something like that should work

Ten posts in to the thread, and this is still being posted on... The first thread should be edited to show that the answer has been found, and that it's the night elf ability Lightning Attack, which only works on units with a missile weapon type, and that it can be modified to be like Razor in dota by using the Finger of Death art.
For all those who wish to know how to do it.
