Changing tinting for "ability effects"

Ok, so I realized not to long ago when playing a melee game that Scion of the Storm's second ability (The one that creates a cloud of darkness that makes enemies miss) uses the Cloud ability but just turnd black. So, I changed a footman's model to the Cloud buff, and change his Tinting to all zero which is black. However, the effect was still blue like the original Cloud's. Either I'm thinking they used a special effect and tinted it black, or used a custom model. Any ideas?

Make it have no model in the ability.

But keep ur custom unit,make it create the custom unit at position of spell?

What? No, I mean the unit's Ability art cannot be changed to black, as it's using the Cloud model. I just made a unit and changed it's art to Cloud, to see if that was the model Scion of the Storm's ability used, and changed it's tinting to black. But it didn't change, I could care less about the spell.

hmmm, im gona guess an imported model.

Can you check if the map has it imported?

Beacuse in the MDL model file, you can change the alpha RGB tinting.

No wait, I just realized something.

It doesn't tint because clouds are a particle effect; not standard model geometry.

Basically a model file has a text section that says 'Particle effect, this color, this texture, this size, etc etc'.

But I bet if you changed the 'texture' it uses to black, that would do the trick.

However, MANY particle emitters share them, so other abilities of the same color would turn black as well.

Ah yes, there we go.

I just checked - they imported a new Cloud model for Scion's ability.
