Chasing Visibility

hey,

im wonderin if it is possible to make it so when a hero buys a item
it will show to all players that hero, and where it moves (when its carring the item)

a little vision spot that follows the item, so if the hero drops it, it will show the item only , not the hero

same if the hero passes on the item to anotrher, it will then follow the new hero

i need to work, so when a hero buys a specific item, all other players can see him (only the hero, not the entire player base or the map), and hunt him down for the item, kinda like kill the dill wif the pill :P

and while im here,

when selling an item, u kno how it is always 50% of what its worth?, is it possibile to make it normal? like u buy sumthing for 500, and sell it for 500 ?

thanks.

oh, and also forgot to mention, when the hero carrring the item dies, he drops that item only, not all the items carried

hey, dont worry about the item sellin @ 50% bit, -- fount it :P

"game constants ! "

hmm I'll investigate more tomorrow, but for now start off with the action 'unit - share vision'. Items don't have visibility fields as far as I'm aware, so you're going to have to hunt for an item or unit ability to give it that will grant visibility.

To make it so that only that particular item gets dropped, simply set the 'stats - dropped when carrier dies' field to false for the items in question.

Event:
Unit - Specific/Generic unit event:
Unit acquires an item

Condition:
Item comparison:
Item is equal to item.

Action:
(Lock camera on unit)
(Message: Unit has acquired item)
Unit - Shared unit vision:
Grant shared vision of triggering unit to player

yeah that trigger is good, maybe replace (triggering unit) with (hero manipulating item)

as far as giving the item visibility goes, the only way I can think of to do it is to make an invisible dummy unit. Whenever the hero drops the item (i.e. in the event 'unit loses an item'), simply create a dummy unit at that location and everyone will be able to see the item.

thx ,

but to make things easier

having a visibility spot chasing the hero carring the item will be enuf,
showing the item when it drops is not nescessary,

so all i need is when a hero / unit buys an item, all others can see him (only the unit/hero, not his base and others)
and try to hunt him down.

then when a new hero gets the item by killing/pickin up or if the current hero just gave it to him. the visibility spot chases the new guy wif the item.

edit :"buys a specific item"

Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.

    That sounds like an adventure.

I wonder how all these bots that sit on the lastest content page get passed anubis or maybe they did not but they are just registering on whos online
  • The Helper The Helper:
showing up on whos online not registration
  • Ghan Ghan:
The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.
  • Ghan Ghan:
That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I remember the whole javascript thing, question - how many real people disable that?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hell I guess I could go back on the stats to know that - we probably capture that and we know the before and after
  • Ghan Ghan:
Real users can't really disable Javascript anymore these days.
  • Ghan Ghan:
The internet is broken without it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Bot readable, not human usable.
  • The Helper The Helper:
    got it
