Check for normal attack

Hey ah, I am just wondering? How do I check for normal attack? There are some way(s):
1. Envenomed Weapons + GUI Damage-Detection (check for specific buffs).
-But, some orb effects cant stack with Envenomed Weapons - (Orb of Corruption).

So whats the best way to check for normal attack?
I am a GUI user, not too good with JASS systems. Thanks.

Isn't there an event for "Unit takes damage" ? Check the damage type and check the unit causing the damage to make sure it is what you want...


But I don't understand...what exactly do you want to "check"? Please be VERY specific. Possibly with an example.

In jass you can manipulate attack and damage types but that option isn't available in GUI. You could use buffs for a condition when checking. ie. give a buff to the hero when they don't have a normal attack and when checking, you would check that the unit does not have the buff or visa-versa

For example, making a custom Vampiric Aura? Like Normal Attack gains health/mana... (Because if use GDD, spells damage also work) How to check for damage type?

Yes, In JASS there are some DAMAGE systems... But I am not too well in implementing them and I prefer using GUI. What type of buffs (Other exceptions of Envenomed Weapons)?

any kind, you would make a "blank" one, dummy buff. It would just be for the condition check.

Basically, you would add the Buff Check to the GDD trigger so it would only fire if a unit with/without the buff is the damage source

hmm... then how to add the buff to the unit? What ability (that doesn`t conflict with any orb effects, other than Envenomed Weapons)? Or script the "adding the buff on the unit" - b'coz the GDD_DamagedUnit needs to have the buff.

Can you clarify please, Unit with or without normal attack has buff?
If its with normal attack then you have to start with the hero having the buff
If is without normal attack then you can attach the buff to the item

without attaching it to the item I can only think that you would need a dummy unit to cast a dummy spell giving the unit the buff

Okay, for example. I want to make a mana-stealing passive non-orb effect (Ability/Skill) per attack.

So I have to trigger it checks for normal attacks damage (damage dealt by attacking) and not spells damage.(damage dealt from spells)
So I need to set that I can apply a DUMMY BUFF to the ATTACKED UNIT and use GDD to check for the BUFF, remove it, add mana to the attacker.
But, which Skill/Ability do I take to do the 'applying of buff'? (Other than envenomed weapons - conflicts with OrbOfCorruption)

    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
