Broad Group, a Chinese construction company in Hunan Province has built a hotel. At 30 stories tall and 183,000-square feet, the hotel itself is nothing extraordinary. What is extraordinary is the time the company needed to build it.

Just 360 hours, or 15 days!

But Broad Group didn’t sacrifice quality for speed. Their hotel is sturdy, earthquake-safe up to magnitude 9. It’s sustainable architecture design has 4-paned insulated windows and a smart heat conservation system. The company boasts an energy efficiency five times that of conventional hotels. Air filters also make the hotel’s air 20 times the purity of conventional hotels. No small convenience in smog-smothered China.

As you can see, the workers made use of all 360 hours, working around the clock. Not sure why they play the video twice. Maybe it’s so fast you might miss it the first time. The amazing speed, of course, would be impossible were the materials not prefabricated. One curiosity of mine, however, and that of many YouTube viewers is the method by which they got the crane out of the center of the hotel. Maybe it doubles as an elevator.

I'd love to know what you're basing this claim off of. In fact, in the article, it goes over the safety features of the building. Did you even read the article?

Just because something is done in a productive manor, doesn't mean it was half-assed. The whole thing was pre-fabbed. Meaning it was all pre-built in pieces, pretty much all they did was bolt it together, paint and decorate, and wire things up...

Yeah the secret is that the hotel was "pre-built" in a factory and then assembled. So it's basically the same as those house packets they sell. Get some trucks to fetch it from the factory and assemble it in days. But still - wow.

And how would you know that it really is safe? because they told you?
What kind of people would tell you that the building they have constructed isnt safe?

They're not claiming it's unsafe, they're claiming it's safe and stated "Their hotel is sturdy, earthquake-safe up to magnitude 9." in the article. So based on the images and what they're claiming in the article, you can give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they actually did the testing. There would be no reason other than the time here that is an obvious "Thats not safe!" cue, for many buildings are built this exact same way by the same company in fact. Sure, I'm open to the fact that maybe it's not safe, but based upon the information you're given here, theres no reason to make a "Thats not safe" claim on this building. :)

There is no reason for a "that building is safe" claim either. We dont know squat about that building. The whole idea to have a conversation about that building is completely moronic.

Thats why I never once made that claim. :)
But FireCat did make a claim, and I want to know why he made that claim. Legit question, good sir. :thup:

I could have left out "Did you even read the article?" and my post would have came across slightly less aggressive, but alas, FireCat tends to wreck havoc in most news threads, so my patience is slightly thin on that aspect of things. Being trolled gets old :)

    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
