And that is not an accurate description of addiction by anyone who's ever had an addiction. Cravings are not addictions - they're desires. You want it, but that's it. You're not sick for lack of it, you're body is not dying because you don't have it.

As a general rule - if you won't suck a dick for it, you're not very addicted.

Well, just read the actual definition of 'addiction'. You're right. I guess I've been to too many drug meetings in my younger, more foolhardy days, where they twist and bend the definition of that word to fit their own purposes.

I concede; cannabis isn't addictive by the actual definition of the word, nor are many of the things I claimed were. Although after saying that, everyone's body works differently so I can't say that that holds true for everyone. But for at least 99% of us.

Yes, they do, and that is one of the primary causes of addiction. We have kids spending twelve, fifteen years going to these meetings where they don't differentiate the difference between something as mild as weed and something as toxic as heroin and meth. They lump all of them together and kids grow up assuming that no matter what drug they do, they'll be fucked. Then, they smoke a little a weed, realize it's not so bad. They're not getting sick. They maybe got tired and a little paranoid, but they aren't feeling what a withdrawal feels like. They probably don't even realize that the down after most drugs isn't remotely close to withdrawals... anyway, they smoke some weed, and are like "Oh well now I can do anything." BAM, addict. Why? Because of the flat out lies that almost every child in this country is force fed from age four.

You can't deny the debilitating effects of alcohol withdrawal, though; it's the only one that can actually kill ya.

No it's not. Heroin, meth, wet, various others can be fatal.

That's absolutely false. Just alcohol and apparently benzos have the capability to kill you without the need of underlying health conditions present.

No, it is not. It's just less common. So can Barbiturates. Even alcohol-withdrawal related deaths are uncommon. And having been addicted to many of this substances for several years at one point, alcohol was by far the easiest to manage.

If I was to start doing drugs recreationally, which one would be the safest to start with? :3

What made you start using drugs?

Anti drug assemblies.

And weed would probably be safer than alcohol. I don't really consider either of them 'drugs' even though they fall under that description technically. Weed's best for chilling or when you're alone and bored or whatever, alcohol is best for parties.

Why isn't alcohol a drug? There are more alcohol-related deaths than all illegal drug-related deaths combined. What makes alcohol less of a drug than those?

And Kaerf, if you don't use yet then you may as well not start if you're happy with your life. It's fuckin' expensive and illegal in most places, and when you realize how awesome it is, you won't want to quit. When something makes everything better, it's hard to find a good enough reason not to get your hands on it.

Why arent cars a drug? There are more car-related deaths then all illegal and legal drug-related deaths combined. What makes cars less of a drug then those?

The number of deaths related to a substance is not the deciding factor whether it counts as a drug or not. I guess it differs from definition to definition. I for one count alcohol as being a drug, and many others do so as well.

Because you can take a shot of anything, every day, and never have an issue with addiction beyond ceremonial habit. Do that with coke, wet, meth, any opiate, etc. Once again, go do these things, and come back and tell me that alcohol is really addictive or the withdrawal is worse. Then I will listen.

Its all just a question of the dose. If you take a tiny dose of coke every day you will not get addicted either, you will probably not notice anything ever.
All substances have a different dosage at which they start to take effect, it can differ for the "positiv" and negativ effects. As you can see, you need to take much more alcohol for a strong negative effect like addiction but a much smaller dose of coke can have the same addictive effect on you.

Okay you're getting a little bit out of the scope of what I was talking about.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
