hi everyone,

i recently installed a wireless network in my home networking two computers. my work pc is connected to the router by ethernet and my pc that i play battlefield on is connected to the wireless network by a network adapter using usb. both pc is connected to a dsl modem. My problem is that everytime i play an online game i would get the message " connection problems detected" every 5 minutes or so. my ping is usually around 100 and i experience little lag. does anybody know a solution to this problem?

thx in advance

I have the same problem, though my connection is router to ethernet.

I've found a way to limit the disconnection problem.

Go to system in control panel, hardware, then device manager.
Find your network card, right click, properties.

Select Power Management, and untick the box.

I'm running XP and this has limited my disconnection problems though I dont know why, as it shouldnt make a difference!

didnt work for me, still having the messages, i wonder if its a problem with the connection speed, the maximun is 11mbps. Also its connected by a usb port. I didnt have this problem before when i play online without the network.

It appears to be a common problem. So your connected through your router or wireless network? I'm a total novice when it comes to networking.

I'd try and get hold of a PCI ADSL modem, and see if you still have problems. Thats what I'm going to do, then I'm going to swap my network card over with a new one. Then I'll know its the router for sure.

Check out your router settings, make sure everythings as it should be and the right ports for GameSpy are open.

I've just bought a soundcard and switched my Geforce 4 MX 420 card to the performance setting instead of quality and I havent had a problem since (3days now !!! )...............fingers crossed.

Almost forgot, theres some good advice about Wireless networks and game playing on GameSpy at the minute.

Worth a read.

so i guess there is no other solutions to this problem huh?

Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.

    That sounds like an adventure.

I wonder how all these bots that sit on the lastest content page get passed anubis or maybe they did not but they are just registering on whos online
  • The Helper The Helper:
showing up on whos online not registration
  • Ghan Ghan:
The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.
  • Ghan Ghan:
That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I remember the whole javascript thing, question - how many real people disable that?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hell I guess I could go back on the stats to know that - we probably capture that and we know the before and after
  • Ghan Ghan:
Real users can't really disable Javascript anymore these days.
  • Ghan Ghan:
The internet is broken without it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Bot readable, not human usable.
  • The Helper The Helper:
    got it
