Constant deformation around caster, but not permanent?

I do hope my questions help other noobs and not just clutter the board. Here is another one...

I am making an immolation based ability. I was hoping to make a cool deformation, but nothing I've tried so far is looking good. I tried a crater and I think it is what looks best, but I want to make it a constant depression under my hero wherever he goes, and not one which will snap back in intervals. If I set the length of the crater longer, it will take that long just to get to its full depth. If I make a crater every fraction of a second, it shows them all return to the normal depth...so its more like a vibration. Any ideas?

Thanks.

How about this:

Make a trigger that runs every 0.01 seconds.

The trigger sets a variable to the position of the unit with the immolation. Then if the immo-unit has moved (the current position is not equal to the variable) destroy the old deformation and create a new one at the unit's position.

Okay I looked and I looked for positions in the conditions. I can't find any position comparison, or any comparison allowing me to use a point variable. Little help?

It would be "Point Comparison" and you need to set the variable to the unit's current position after you do the other actions.

Hmm well maybe it is not in WEU? There is no point comparison in my editor. Is there somewhere hidden I should be looking for this?

can't you just use the permament deformation trigger action rather than the temporary deformation one? (is that what you are doing?)

Nope I don't want permanent. I just want it to go down once, and stay down wherever the caster is, instead of going up and down like it does if you create multiple craters. What grurf suggested might look pretty good as long as the caster is moving. Only problem is when he is standing still, there is no way to keep the crater from going back up.

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content

Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
