Pokémon Go weekly player spending has jumped by by nearly 70% amid the coronavirus outbreak, according to data analysed by online analytics company Statista.
Statista gathered the latest available Pokémon Go gaming data, finding that there was a 69% jump spending in the week ending March 16th, around the time nations began introducing lockdowns and vulnerable citizens in the US were first asked to self-isolate.
In the previous week, in-game Pokémon Go spending amounted to $13.6 million worldwide. In the week ending March 16th, this total had climbed to $23 million. Players in the United States account for the biggest share of this total, at $7.8 million.
