crc errors for act of war

i just bought act of war and can not get it to load please help. I even bought a new dvd player/burner and still nothing, tried copying game to pc and install that way still receiving errors. and disabled dma and still no luck. please help.

Greetings! Did you find a solution to the CRC error problem? I recently experienced the same on a system I just built. It ran fine on the old system.

Man this sure is a tough nut to crack. I couldn't get the memtest86 program to work per another user's suggestion so I finally just decided to a complete reinstall (I didn't have much on the new system anyway) as I thought perhaps SP2 was the problem.

Still no dice. I got it back up and running sans SP2. The game will load through the first two minutes of the media clip or so and then it either gives me those cab file errors again or locks up. Also, it almost sounds like the game disc is skipping. I tried a regular DVD movie in it and the drive appeared to function normally.

I checked the disc for damage but I can not see anything to the naked eye.

If you know of a memory test that is easy to use and reputable, I am all ears. I did change my CAS to 2.5 but it didn't result in any change.

I had the same problem for another game i was trying to install, it should have worked fine but it just gave me a crc error during install. I got round it by copying all the files (except the one giving the error) into a folder on my pc and then got a friend to copy the file that gave the crc error onto his computer and then moved that onto my computer over our network.
I then ran the install directly from my comp and it worked with no problems

try turning off your ANIT VIRUS as it might be blocking it, thinking it is a virus
