Currently trying to create a "WC3 Orb-Like" effect, but im not sure exactly how it would be done... Reload Magazine Ability->Weapon->Effect->Debuff/Damage or Behavior Ability->Buff->On Hit effect->Debuff or whatever else it could be.

Ok so I went with:
Button->Behavior Ability->Hidden Buff w/Attacker Damage Response->Apply Behavior to target Effect->Behavior Stacking 5 times, with a movespeed factor of 0.96 modification. I would like to know however, whether the movespeed factor will be multiplied by 0.96 for every stack, or will stack to 0.92/0.88/0.84/0.80, etc

I'm pretty sure it is multiplied for every stack since the factor is multiplied by the original movespeed to get the new speed. Thus:

For 1 Stack:
New_Movespeed = Current_MoveSpeed * Stack1Factor

For 2 Stacks:
New_Movespeed = Current_MoveSpeed * Stack1Factor * Stack2Factor

ect

im not sure thats true, as thats not how % movespeed increases/decreases worked in wc3, it worked as an added % rather than a stacking %, I will test it, but it is very possible that it just subtracts 4%, the multiplication factor could plainly be used as a way to create a parameterized flat movespeed reduction

I'd say the best way to solve this is if you test it and come back here and post results, so other people who have the same question can find it by searching!

ya i plan on it, as soon as i get the ability to work :D right now i have the ability set up but when i put it on the unit it wont work, I give the ability to the unit then give the unit the button that is linked to the ability then link the ability to the button but it appears to do nothing :/

Just because it worked that way in WC3 doesn't mean it will in SC2. But anyway I tested this and I was right. I created an ability that applies a buff to the targeted unit that reduces their movement speed by 50%. With 1 stack off the buff, the movement speed of the marine is reduced by 1.13 to 1.13 (2.25 * 0.5). With 2 stacks off the buff, the movement speed is reduced by 1.69 to 0.56 (2.25 * 0.5 * 0.5).

Test map is attached if anyone doesn't believe me.

i believe you, i was only saying until it was tested you cant know exactly how it is done, and that there was a likely chance that blizzard made it like wc3 because they do this with every game they make. The expansions for wow have item remakes, the new units for hots arent really new, at least most of them arent, and they re-use old models and styles. Blizzard is in the business of making games, not revamping them. But thank you for testing it, that clears that up a bit, i may have to do a flat increase/decrease or trigger it.

Since it will be for a custom hero map all the heroes should have the same base stats, im sure i could come up with some type of validator to check if they have any other movement speed increases or decreases and go on from there. There should only be 3-4 items to increase movement and not a HUGE ammount of buffs for movement resulting from ablities.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
