Hello, I am very new to the world editor and am just wondering how to do something that is probably quite simple for you more knowledgeable guys.

First let me give you a little background.

My friend and I like to play against each other as well as with each other and against the computer over the internet. We like to use the larger maps and spend about a half hour to an hour per game. The thing we would like to do is:

Start out with more gold and lumber
Start out with a basic set of buildings (we may forego this and just do more cash and lumber and a few extra basic units)

The thing is I cannot figure out how to do this after searching for over two hours on these forums and http://www.world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/index.php

If it is possible I would like to start each player (and the computer when we play against him) to start out with one of each building basically (and the requiste "base" upgrade) If this is very complicated we can just skip it in favor of the more cash and lumber idea.

Thank you very much!

Open trigger editor ("a" icon)

Select Meelee initialization trigger and press the movie icon, search there for "Player - set property", set the values and save the map

Hello and thank you for such a fast reply. However, I think I forgot to mention that I am editing a WC3 map called Emerald Garden.

When I do what you say I have Several rows that say:

Melee Game - Use time of day...
Melee Game - Limit heros to...

One does say

Melee Game - Set Starting Resources (for all players)

But I cannot figure out how to edit it..

I am sorry I know I am just stupid but I can't figure out how to edit it though I can copy and cut it...

> Melee Game - Set Starting Resources (for all players)

Replace that one with two "Player - set property" actions.
One for gold and one for lumber.
You will have to do it for every (human) player on the map.

Thanks again guys got it to work for me as far as the gold and lumber. Now does anyone know how to change the starting units? I would like to start out with more base units and maybe buildings too if that is possible. I am playing around with it as I tab back and forth. I accidentially deleted all of the starting players and buildings and when I tested it said we all lost =P

If you want, you may delete the line, that creates the units.

On the left side of main editor window is a tree structure list. Explore it, units and other things are there well arranged. When you select an item, then simply click somewhere on map and the unit will be placed there.

Impossible is nothing. (Or so they say)

There's the action "Unit - create", that can create any unit or structure
for any player, (almost) anywhere on the map, without any this-building-needs-that-building-first limitations.

If you create them relative in position to your start-location,
it will even work with random starting spots.
Or more than one race too if needed...

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Also, anyone who is reading this and is sad - don't be, turn off the Internet, step away from the box - enjoy your life - there is so much more out there for you than there is here for you.
