Creating Icon

Can some one plz list steps for successfully creating an icon? ---->start from a jpg image.

Did you try the tutorial before you posted? If you did it would have been a fantastic idea for you to mention that in your post. Just my 2 cents.

FIRST: goto http://www.world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/icons.php
SECOND: download Irfanview.exe inorder to change your FINISHED image from jpg to tga (download at: http://www.irfanview.com ).
THIRD: Open WE's Import Manager (TFT only) f12 and goto File>Import File and select your file's location and load it into WE. As Darg mentions, make SURE your Import path is "ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTN...file name.TGA" . This will be different for the DISBTN counterpart to your image (if necessary).
FOURTH: Goto Object Editor (TFT Only). Select Items tab. Choose NEW ITEM icon. Once you've started a new icon...goto Art-Interface Icon...and find your newly added image/icon file.
FIFTH: If you want your icon to show up in the Item Palette of the Terrain Editor, you MUST place the image file (TGA) into a newly created sub\sub directory of your Warcraft III director/folder: ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTN..file name...tga In other words....CButtons is a subdirectory of Rep...Textures. This is a forum, not an instant messanger. I'm used to forums where replies can take up to a full day, sometimes two, or just never even answered, so be patient.

Those are the instructions for creating any icon of any type. You import icons into your map, and you can use those icons for anything; as many times you want.

find an icon u want (off the interent or whatever)

cop that picture

paste that picture on your photo shop Ulead, whatever program

click on save as...

change the format to TGA and save as BTNblubloobloofat (blubloobloofat is an example)(rember to put BTN in front of it)

go to world editor

upload your image thro import thingy

go to the image thing on your spell thingy

set it to your picture name

That is almost exactly what the tutorial said, except the tutorial was more detailed haha. Maybe if you told us which specific step or steps are confusing you? So we woudln't have to write a whole page on how to do the whole thing.

demon i dont mind it makes me look intelligent lol, who i think my key board is sltghtly smaller on one side... creepy, anyway yea but when u leave out them details it seems easier lol

Well easier for some...Sometimes if its a long tutorial, its because of pictures or something, but it looks "intimidatingly long." After you read it through a few times, you will be a master at it.
