Custom mini maps

I was looking at SD_Ryoko's tutorial site and i was following the one on making custom mini map images, i have followed the steps exactly and for some reason they dont work (the game crashes OR i only get a white mini map) this is probably a mistake on my part can some one help?

in all likelihood your image was not merged onto the base image when you were editing it. A "floating" minimap in the picture is guaranteed to crash the game.

99% of the time when we get this question I look at people's images and that is the problem.

I dont do alot of picture editing, darg could u be a bit more spicific.

Okay Darg.

I saved my minimap in different options with ULEAD. I saved it as 32 bit and 24 bit in Adobe. I saved it both 256x256, and 128x128.

I opened someone elses that works, and pasted my image in, then merged all layers.

The ALL crash the map.

If I can't do it, how we supposed to help others.....

whoever has problems with their images then please post your images here and I will see what the problem is. And then maybe I will answer the most FAQ regarding this tutorial.

You could put a bad minimap in a small file, and host all kinds of Dotas and TD names on bnet.... anyone who clicks it gets the crash... LOL think about it.

I used the exact same file, and here is what happens when you pick the map from the map list inside WC3. Exact same file.

The beta testers did it too.

just press "Print scrn" button or somethink like that open a image program like (like photoshop) and paste

hmm, I'm using patch 1.16, which one are you using?

Its no secret they did a lot to the editor in 1.17, perhaps I should try patching and see if anything has broken in the latest version.

minimap in ROC???

hi there
i've read some tuts about importing images into the minimap in TFT. but i often see ROC maps which use images in the minimaps, too ... can some1 explain this 2 me?
Perhaps these guys just use the TFT-Wolrd-Editor on the maps without doing any other TFT-modifications, so that the map is a ROC-map at the end?

In RoC, the program WinMPQ does the same job that the Import Manager does in RoC.
