ok - I have the problem where I can't seem to copy over the d2char.mpq file when installing from the D2 classic cd. There seems to be the same problem out there for D2X too..so, how do i fix it?
I was going to try Blizzard's main one:
Solution 2
-Right click "My Computer"
-Left Click on "Properties"
-Left Click on the "Performance" tab
-Left Click on the "File System" button
-Left Click on the CD-ROM tab
-Change the "Optimize access pattern for:" pull down menu to
-"No read-ahead"
-Set the Supplemental Cache Size to Small
-When you click OK, you will be prompted to reboot
-Install and play the game
But, I have Windows XP and have no idea on how to change these settings.
Could someone tell me how? I know there is nothing wrong with my disk, since it works fine on other comps. Also, any other recommended fixes incase this one doesn't help would be helpful.
Celeron 1200mhz
256 ram
Windows Xp(home edition)
ATI Radeon 7000
intel integrated sound(?)
Thanks,
Niketh
