D2 WILL NOT WORK FOR ME!HELP!!!!

Ok i bought the battle chest for d2 about 3 months ago. I had been waiting for about 2 years to play it and it didnt work. I can install d2 and or lord of destruction. When i try to play it says play disk not found. The first time this happened i check the disk it was the play disk. I then tried again, same thing. I dont have the copy of d2 on me now but it is installed. So if someone knew exactley whats wrong i could fix it by installing lod. Anyone know whats up? Plz ive been waiting for so long....
 
Where can i find my cd-rom make and model info? Or is just the company or whatever? What i can tell u is that my comp is a dell dimension 4300. I dont' think that helps does it?
O and can i get help from blizzard by myself or do i need my parents to help me out?Sry never done dis before....

First, send Blizzard an email at [email protected], and they'll send you the most recent fixes for this.

To find out the make & model of your CD-Rom drive, go to Control panel - System - Hardware tab - Device Manager button (these instructions for XP, from memory. But you should be able to get at the device manager from Control panel - system, so look around if these aren't correct for you). Find your CD-Rom entry - it should have your make & model. For example, mine is a Samsung SN-308B.

OK i think i found it. It said that it was a LG CD-RW CED-8080b. So when i e-mail blizzard just tell them about what the problem is?

Firmware is a permanent change to your CDRW drive. It's sort-of like drivers for your video card, or an update to your system BIOS, but permanent. Firmware updates are often done to make a drive more compatible with different kinds of media.

Make sure you follow the steps carefully, though, since it's not something you can change back. If you have a choice, use a floppy method, rather than updating from your hard drive, as I've heard that hard drive methods are more prone to failure. Don't worry too much, though - I'm hardly an expert, and I've updated firmware on my CD-Rom.

There are none that say CED there all like CRD and GCD and stuff like that.My drive is a CED-8080b none say that under the cd-rom section
 
this whole thing is pretty scary.....but i want to play so bad...by the way what do i do for this update?
 
Your firmware update was under CDRWs. You can find it here.

The update usually asks you to download a file, and when you run it, it opens an MS-Dos prompt, and asks you to insert a disk. After it writes data onto the disk, you need to re-boot your computer with the disk in the disk-drive, which will make your computer boot from the A: drive instead of the C: drive. The firmware update should complete automatically, and will probably take less than 5 minutes.

It's really not that scary - just make sure you print out the instructions and read them over before you start. A printed copy will let you reference the instructions while you're completing the update.

However, if this isn't *your* computer, I wouldn't do it unless the owner agrees... (you mentioned parents)... if you mess up someone else's CDRW, they might be unhappy.

So which one is it. One thing here in troubleshooting your problem is to be calm. We are not going anywhere and we will be here all day. We can give you detailed instructions on how to install your firmware updates and help you to identify the proper one for your system. The only thing that we ask from you is that you slow down and make sure that when you give us information that it is correct information.

OK. Trying to calm.........I dont wanna mess up anything. OK so here is what it is i will check it to make sure here we go. LG CD-RW CED-8080b. Ok that is the right one.

Yeah, that's what happens to me too, even when I increase my resolution... try printing and see if it comes out right.

I can only make about two quarts at a time with my robo coup, and if I have to make several in series because I forgot to order it becomes really obvious even when I do it.
