Hello

In Warcraft 3 the trick to view a certain model was to have the Object Editor not in full screen, so you could see the model in the previewer inside the "terrain editor" (a palette on the side).

Anyways... I've tried the same trick in Galaxy Editor, which did not work.

Is there anyway to view models, effects, etc in some sort of preview (a list with names do not tell me how the effect looks like...), oh I am editing the field:
Data Editor > Actor Tab > Created a new Actor > Select newly created actor > Art : Model

The art: model that you're picking is actually a model object. You can open the Models tab (which is just like any other tab, like the actor or unit tab). Then you can either create a new model or modify an existing one.

Creating a new one is very simple. You should just need to set the model on it and it should be ready to be used. No need to mess with the other fields most of the time.

If you open a model's model field, you'll get a list with previews so you can see the different models.
