You don't ask inside a Contests thread why posts are being deleted, the ensuing spam is unbearable. You ask it somewhere else, either to a moderator or in the Bugs and Features forum. As a matter of fact, if a post of yours is deleted and the posts thereafter are, too, you're doing something wrong. Period. No questions, no comments, just stop it. Got it now? I hope you did. Discussion over.

~Daxtreme

It says to ask here, so I am. Who was deleting my posts in the Hero Contest #2, and why? The original ones that were deleted were related to the contest, they should have stayed. The ones after I can understand why got deleted, but why were my original ones removed?

You overestimate the importance of your posts.

Contest threads have this weird tendency to "discuss" the rules to death and back and then some.
Actually though, they are not really open to discussion.

Once knight replied to the current block of open questions, all posts were removed.
Not just yours.
They do not contribute anything of value anymore.

The deletions were not a result of anything you may have said or did. You didn't necessarily do anything wrong, it's just to keep the thread clean.

Wrong. Only my posts and one other persons were removed, the other posts stayed. And noone else's posts have been removed since then even after Knight has answered the questions, just mine. So I see no reason mine should have been removed.

Which is of course why the vast majority of posts stayed, but mine were deleted... Yeah...

One of my original questions still has yet to be answered: Who was it that deleted my posts?

That probably won't last long.... :p

> Who was it that deleted my posts?

I did. And AceHart did as well, later on. I went through and cleaned up posts I didn't think were needed there and/or didn't contribute much to the topic at hand.
And I plan on doing that more when more posts are made and resolved.

I have nothing against you personally. Please don't take it as some kind of personal attack. I didn't intent it as such.

Yeah, me and kazuga had a huge discussion about the contest. All those posts got deleted. It was like 1.5 page. You dont know about that discussion because everything got deleted, but you're not the only one. You're the only one who's making a problem out of it.

What was the discussion about? If it was just between you two, then it goes in PMs. The contest thread is strictly for posting your results or WIPs or any questions about the contest. Other small ones like "Good luck" or "I'm in!" might be accepted.

Really, who would want a huge thread of tons of spam?

Simply put, your posts were deleted for a reason. Whether it be inimportance or spam. Whatever it is, it got deleted. Don't blame the moderator, because it is their job. Otherwise, just try to post more helpful or useful posts. ;)

It started with us 2, more people joined later on, so PM's wouldnt have worked. It was about the fact that a theme and forbidden import restricts your originality with the heroes you make up.

Some people try to change the rules. And it's simple, the rules are given. If you like it, you join, if you don't like it, or don't think you can follow the rules, you don't join. No point in arguing really... If the rules are really that bad, then no one would join and the contest would die, thus forcing the Host to change the rules.

Wait, is it really worth mentioning that a Contest's rules aren't subject to debate? I thought not, until now... :)

Just because people have the oppurtunity to question the rules, doen't mean the rules will be changed. But would you rather people asking the same questions 5 times over in the contest thread or a thread that was made to cater for contest spam :p

Why hasn't anyone closed this yet?

Rules are rules. They're there because they've always worked. There's [as of yet] never been a problem big enough to change them. So quit your complaining :)

Conclusion: If you are the Contest host and want a rule changed, PM a moderator of the WE Help forums. If you are member and want a rule changed, PM the Contest host and discuss with him; don't post inside the thread.

If you are none of the above, don't post if it's related to the rules. :)

  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
