Diablo 2 gameplay aspects that need fix in D3

Agreed.

Many monsters that people consider annoying to kill, such as vultures or devilkins or zakarumites are easy to take down if you just wait for them to come and not chase them through the level.

@Samael

Well, Isenhart's ought to be scheduled for removal, too ;)

True, true, people can learn to deal with them, tho they are really annoying.
But the vulture thing, with a game with as much physics as D3, they just has to be able to be fired upon even when they are flying:) For me there would be a great turn-off if they was not:thdown:

What the heck is wrong with making skills easier to use? Bad controls are a horrible way to make gameplay more challenging. (see:nintendo hard)

And I hate it when people say something is bad because it makes it like something else. (Though at least you didn't accuse it of being like WoW. Thank you for that )

Ye, that's one thing I hate (although, on the off chance I get something, I love it :D) - I recall seeing something mentioned about people only being able to see drops that are useful to them.

I don't think this is quite right - if I remember correctly, it's actually that you can only see what you're meant to be able to pick up - regardless of what class it's useful for. This means that everyone gets their own loot.

Assuming I'm remembering correctly, it will be interesting to see if that means that if a monster decides to drop a unique, it'll be a random unique for all players, or the same unique for all players (seems unlikely to me), or that each player has their own individual dice roll for uniques/sets/whatever (much more likely - will also promote magic find gear (if it still exists) being worn in party play).

I think there should be item sharing of some sort (between characters - muling), and bigger, maybe infinite stash (think PlugY).

For anyone interested in PlugY, there's a workaround the 1.12 non-compatibility here.

Nope, I'm pretty sure everyone sees all the drops, otherwise I wouldn't see 6 rares drop off a boss but only get one of them before the melee classes get all of them if I'm lucky.

My bad - I meant in Diablo 3.

I liked the randomly generated maps that they used in D2 but I think it would be very difficult for them to do this in D3 especially now that they are adding terrain height variation and way way way better graphics.

They've mentioned that random maps are staying in, and is a pretty fundamental design concept for their dungeons and art. The art upgrade really isn't a big deal, though; they just make a whole bunch of rooms that can connect together in a lot of ways, and have the game connect them randomly each time. So you'll probably be seeing similar rooms a lot, but it'll always be a different one next door, and probably a few changes here and there as well as different monsters of course.

Well im hoping that the game will be a bit more protective against faggots who have map hacks and ruin the game completely. I know its awesome finding the way to dark woods without going thru every monster but then again thats the point of a challenge.

I'd agree with many of the posters about gold, it needs a good use..
If Blizz made a complex shopping system, they couldn't go far wrong. That's what Diablo and WoW has always been about anyway, shopping. We're all just a bunch of girls, and all is vanity :D

Well, anyways, what kind of things could we expect from a good shopping system?

Vendors in each town have different quality goods. Each with scaling values.
All goods degrade after enough time, like real life.
Different quality goods will take different amounts of time to degrade, this would be entirely different to the old ethereal system.
Weapons could be buffed by purchaseable magical or smithing buffs. Certain ranges of items would be unlockable via certain methods. For example, in a desert area, you'd have to rescue the local smith's daughter, before he'll consider buffing your stuff. Also, at certain fights, and encounters in the world, there should be chances to find certain materials, that will act as an ingredient in a buffing recipe, and depending on how you fight, or act in a situation depends on which materials you get access to. Kinda like a rated battle.
The shopping system should be key, because it's all people do, after they finish levelling, although levelling will be hard, like D2, I'm sure it will happen a lot more since D3 is going to be much bigger than D2.

Also, some stats should be less basic.. For example, the speed an item gives you should be split into two classes - weight, and magical enhancement. So for example, there might be a weapon which taps into your neural system, and speeds up reaction, thus increasing attack speed, however, the weight may be so heavy, so equipping it without sufficient strength will make your attack speed slower than a weapon with no magical enhancement. People might think this kinda of effect will make the game a drudge to play, but I don't think so. People will get used to it, and start treating their character more seriously, and make a conscious effort to go for items which don't just give them a cool skeletal look or something..

What shopping needs is, first and foremost, a lot of items. These can be manually created, and then many variations on that one item be randomly generated. For example: A certain quality of club developed by a certain tribe of people, called bloodwood. These bloodwood clubs will specialise in being a certain weight range, like 1.2-1.4. They will also be spiked and allow for bleeding wounds. The spike damage will be randomly generated like the weight, and will change the amount of time bleeding wounds affects (within a range). The animation of the club swing, will have several types, yet, each swing is slightly different depending on the stats of the club you have. For example the weight may make the lifting longer, and the acceleration in falling faster, and may affect crushing blow stats.
Yeah.. I hear you say, that this is too complex. Maybe!! But maybe not.. I just believe that with some carefully selected stats on each major item, massive collections of randomly generated items can be made which all have unique looks and effects, however, you could still quickly grab an item, recognising it's key features, and know that it will be more useful than another weapon you have identified for a certain fight.. (regardless of the minor changes).

You get the idea. The texturing could be randomly generated too. That would be so cool ._o

The loot that you see on your screen is the loot that only you will be able to pick up. each player will have loot drop for them and only them... I'm surprised that you guys didn't know that... given the rarity of d3 info... that's a pretty big one from blizcon 09 from what i remember.

How bout everyone and their mother was immune to one of the three sorceress elements?

Not to mention you probably played online.

Try making a character in single player get to hell, and beat the game without the give aways, the trading, and all that rushing and power leveling.

your items will suck and your skills wont be strong enough.

it is not impossible, it's just hard.

It sucks that he's the only character I've ever done anything good with on Single Player. Is he the only one who can?
I've tried out a few other builds, but never got them far before I got bored with playing DII and went back to Spore - which was new at the time. :p

Well, surprisingly, there are 7 classes in the game, as such all 7 should be able to beat the game without hair tearing agony.

I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left.
