Hey..I searched through B.Net's Tech support for a good hour to find this problem, and didn't see it anywhere...and eventually I found my way to here..can anyone help me out?:

While connected to B.net, I try to join/create a game..and it gives me the usual "Please wait" box..but the game crashes. Music is still playing, but I lose my cursour and the Dark Wanderer and the door never show up..it stays at the please wait window. CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't do anything, so I press Alt-Tab, in which case I have an error box on my Desktop reading "UNHANDELED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION (c000005)"

I tried about 20 times and out of those 20 times..I got into a game once.

This is a new problem cuz I've been on B.net Before with my Expansion characters, so I dunno what's going on..

Thanks for any possible help. :)

I'm running through no Firewall or Router. My Internet connection is directly from a cable modem in my house.

I installed nothing new, besides WCIII, but I'm pretty sure I played Diablo II after I installed WCIII.

I've never had or used a third Party program, so I'm at a total loss. I've done nothing that I could think of to effect the game.

To make matters worse, I can not unistall and reinstall, cuz I lost the CD, which is why I'm hoping this is a problem which can be fixed with a simple Deletion opf File A, or DL of file B.

I'm playing the Expansion, thus using the Expansion CD. I LOST my Diablo II CD's and the Case.

But, eitherway. Does anyone know what could possibly be going on?

Access Violation. According to my knowledge, it could be caused by :

- Firewalls >> Firewalls or Anti-Viruses could cause this error. Make sure you disable any firewalls/anti-viruses before playing the game.

- Hard-Disk Errors >> Go in My Computer, then right-click on your hard-disk. Under the "Tools" toolbar, click on Error Checking.

- Fragmented Hard-Disk >> Go in My Computer, then right-click on your hard-disk. Under the "Tools" toolbar, click on Defragmentation.

- Viruses >> Go to this site and scan your hard-disk for any viruses.

- Bad Ram >> Test with this program: http://www.goldmemory.cz It must be run under MS-Dos, so you will have to create an MS-Dos Boot Disk. I recommend you get a diskette, go in My Computer, then right-click on the A: drive to format. Make sure you check the "Copy System Files" box.

- Overheating >> Often this would be accompanied by spontaneous rebooting of the computer. This can often be fixed by cleaning off any dust you may find in the computer. Make sure you unplug your computer before dusting it.

- Device Conflicts >> Right click on "My Computer" on the desktop and then properties. Under the Device Manager tab, any conflicts would be reported with a (!) besides the device's name.

- Corrupted Windows installation >> Open Start menu, Program Files, Accessories, System Tools, System Information.
From the tools menu, try the different options. It will tell you if anything is corrupted.

- Outdated Windows installation >> Visit Windows Update Site and update your Windows version.

Wow, thanks much. I'll try all of that and see if anything works. :D

Hmm...I did all thsoe things, and I somehow had some viruses..I cleared them and now I'm getting the message "ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION (c000001d)"

::Sighs:: Any idea what that could be? Thanks again in advance..

Could be the virus infected/destroyed some files in your game data, had that happened to my Outlook and Norton once when my father ignorantly viewed some 'strange looking emails from people he knows who can't possibly have sent to that email address.' Sigh....I guess some people just LOVE to step on a land mine because it 'looks half buried by dirt and could be dangerous.'

Seriously, though, maybe if you run the anti-virus and have it attempt to repair any infected files? Not sure on that, I had to reinstall Outlook and Norton in my case.

I scanned my harddrive with Norton again after I rid myself of the viruses, and none were found..

I'll get my Friends Diablo II CD so I can reinstall it..But what makes no sense is I can play the game fine on Single player and Open B.net..it's only Closed B.net that I have this problem..

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content

Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
