Diablo - Mac - Screen size problems

Mac-expert needed!!!

Hey hey. I just bought an Ibook G4 and Diablo 2 but I can't seem to get it to run in fullscreen in high res modes. I've got 768 mb ram and loads of space on my hard drive but when running diablo 2 in anything but the lowest resolution it creates a black border around the gaming screen - the higher the resoultion, the smaller gaming screen. It's not supposed to do that, is it? The game runs very smooth in millions of colours, but I get frustrated from playing the game fullscreen with lousy graphics as well as playing it with a nice resolution but on a tiny gaming screen. Can somebody please help me? I tried Blizzards technical support site, but that wasn't any help at all. So please help me, mac experts!!!

How much video RAM do you have? Give me the specs on the model you have and I will see what I can do.

ok that shouldn't happen
Im sure warcraft demands the same reqs as Diablo
and since im everyday using a mac to play warcraft..
uhmm..
check your preferences and look at your resolutions
is it 1024x768?
and when you say you bought an iBook G4, is it a desktop or laptop?

I've got an Ibook (laptop) with a G4 1.2 GHz, 768 megabyte RAM, 32 megabyte videoram, and 60 GB harddisk. I run mac os x panther in 1024x768 and millions of colours.

It doesn't open Diablo in a window, it opens it fullscreen and then add black borders around the gaming screen. Everything (cinematics, menu etc.) is confined to a tiny area in the middle of the screen...

Same Problems

I am having the exact same problem as you are, exluding the fact that we have 2 differing computers. I have an imac g5 running mac osX tiger. When i try to run anything but the lowest resolution it dosnt work, and when i run the highest resolution it makes the screen size smaller... any possible solutions?

I believe that the Diablo 2 Expansion pack allows you to run the game in higher resolutions. The regular Diablo II only runs in 640x480 and switches the screen resolution to match that when the game starts. Same as Starcraft. The reason you are getting smaller screens is because the resolution is fixed. You might want to check with Blizzard to double check me - you can do that emailing [email protected] - My Diablo 2 support is very rusty but I am pretty positive this is the case.

Ok sorry this took so long but I had to look something up. I had a similar problem with Black and White on my G4 tower mac, I would get the sound, but no picture. After much searching through my computer and sites, I found that I needed to install an update of the ATI Rage card. When you look this up on your computer, the apple may tell you it's an ATY Rage card, but seach for the ATI Rage card update. I did this update about a year ago and never had problems running any game at all.
