Diablo2 question..

well guys i have a problem and i know u r the ones who can give me an advice I wanted to play diablo2 last night and i tried to install it again.But it seems my cdrom couldn't read the playdisc and aborted the install.The question is,i have Lord of destruction expansion and since i dont need that d2 playdisc,is there any way to install diablo without the d2 playdisc cos i will use the lod playdisc?

Not that I can think of no.

For one:

The installer is programmed to read from the CD-ROM drive.

The workaround would be to copy the files to the hard drive, and install from there, but since installing from the hard drive is not possible you cannot do it.

For two:

The Expansion copies files from the Play Disc as well.

Sorry.

Just an afterthought: You wouldn't happen to have a different CD-ROM drive or a different system to try it on to see if it really is the Play Disc and not the CD-ROM itself?

Not possible. The installation requires some files in the PlayDisk.

You could try creating a Diablo II folder in say C:\Program Files\Diablo II and copying the contents of the Diablo II PlayDisk in that folder. Then put the installation disk and point to C:\Program Files\Diablo II as the folder you wish to install the game. Perhaps setup will not prompt you for your PlayDisk since it's contents are already installed.

If you ever manage to properly install Diablo II classic, simply copy the d2music.mpq file from the PlayDisk into the Diablo II folder on your hard-disk to avoid the need of the playdisk during LOD installation.

Oooo, I didn't know that part....I always hated putting the stupid Play Disc in when I've had to reinstall the game.

What was the purpose of your post, did you think he or any of us that replied do not own the game?

The workaround that NoNameRequired supplied is a good suggestion during the LoD installation.
