Disconnection Problems

I keep getting disconnected from bnet. I don't get kicked out of bnet, but back into the chat screen. Here's my setup.

Windows 2000 Pro
Soyo K7V Dragon w/network card and sound
Asus v8200 GeForce3 64 MB
256 DDR ram
AMD Athlon t-bird 1.4 ghz
DSL connection

I have a friend with the exact same configuration expect he uses some sort of ATI radeon graphics card. We also have the same ISP (we are only about 10 houses away from each other as well). He hasn't had any problems at all. From reading another post, I tried this:

ping uswest.battle.net -t > c:\mypings.txt

and I sent/received about 150 packets and lost none. I did try out dslreports.com and after some tweaking I got my speed to 1285/175. However my friend gets 1500/500 or so. Maybe that's the problem.

Otherwise, I figure it's my graphics card. I tried using the updated drivers from the asus website, and also the blizzard tested drivers from the nvidia website (28.32). There are some newer ones from the nvidia website that I'll try also. I've also upgraded the bios, all the other drivers etc. All my settings on in WC3 are on low as well.

What else can I do? I'm guessing that I may have to change some settings somewhere (maybe in the BIOS?).

Any help would be appreciated.


Is the problem above caused by the IPBAnning?

That's the first thing i could think of, can you join the game even or are you being kicked out of it after a certain period of time?

Do you have any latency problems while in the game?

As a side note, I'm surprised this worked for you. Blizzard shut off pinging and tracerouting to all battle.net gateways a few months ago.

(I just tried and got nothing but time outs, which with ping and traceroute shut off is normal.)

I got really lagging after 2~5 mins during the game and i got dropped. My SDRAM's 128.
