Display Text Message=INFURIATING!!!!

Ok, I have this trigger

Conditions:
-Player 4 brings at least 1 Zook to 'Krakrenenor Orb Location'.
Actions:
-Display for Current Player: Zook has taken control of the Krakrenenor Orb!
-Preserve Trigger

I have tried setting the "Execute for Player" to
All Players
Players 1-6
Forces 1,2,3

Unless I only set it to myself, it won't show the message! I want it to display for ALL players. Right now when I test it, I am Player 4 and players 1,2,3,5, and six are all computers.

Help me before I break something!

Try your actions to look something more like...

'Pick every player in playable map and do actions'
'Show text to picked player(s)'

Not exact wording, but should work. :)

But it only works if I only set it to Player 4! My player! Why do the simplest triggers give me the biggest grief? These text messages are important, otherwise things could happen under a player's nose and not know it until it's too late!

What happens if you make 7 copies of the trigger (1 for each player)

EDIT: I see what the problem is. For it to display to all the players, you would need to have it set a switch, which would activate another trigger which would display the message and clear the switch. This is because it singles out the player that it is doing it for.

Ooooh...that sounds tedious but I'll give it a whirl. There's like a thousand little text messages for each little thing that goes off, but sounds like a good idea.

Make Sure Always Display is checked. If not, only shows if subtitles are on (so always check the box)...

you only need it for Player 4 also. Its annoying at first but youll get the hang out of it. i remember when i didnt really get display text. its a bad action overall anyway.

I agree, there needs to be a duration thing on the display thing in the game, like there is in the briefing editor.

Now this is truly bizarre, suddenly a good portion of my triggers that used a "Display text message" worked correctly when I set them to "All Players". Several didn't work though, to my confusion, including the "Zook" trigger mentioned above! Many of the working triggers are almost exact copies of this Zook trigger, except taht the units are different! Again, why is it THIS simple trigger that is giving me so much trouble? :banghead:

yea.. the display text action requires lots of guess and check to see what works

Eh, doesnt it just display to the owner(s) of the trigger? So, if you set something at the end of the player 4 trigger, that met conditions of another trigger, the other trigger could be all players and have that display.

hmm, ive never had a problem with it. Its always been one of the more stable triggers for me.

    Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality

    I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.

    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
