I created a poll - let's hear your opinion!

Do you want to change the date format used on these forums?

The Americans do their dates like this:

MM-DD-YYYY

The British / Aussies do it like this:

DD-MM-YYYY

The International ISO date standard does it like this:

YYYY-MM-DD

No - you can choose one or the other. The forum will only set to one date format I believe. This vote would be for a change from the US to the rest of the world format.

I modified the pole to reflect what the issue really is. Darg you can vote the other way now :)

Everyone says verbally "February fifth, 2005."

hah, says you :p

aussies usually say it the other way around, though we've been known to use both ways.

given the new information that we can't individually choose the date format, this poll now seems pointless and we might as well leave it as it is. After all, the majority of admins / mods here are american, and not brits or aussies.

I'd be careful with big words like "everyone" :)

If it can't be made user selectable,
then the only real choice is YYYY - MM - DD
No confusion there... (yeah, sure. But, it's an international standard)

Unless a bunch of people come in and want US format all of a sudden I think we will probably be switching to International.

I'm guessing you're not familiar with ISO standards then ryoko?

Type "iso 8601" into google.

I guess the only reason I'm aware of ISO standards is because I did an IT degree in addition to Engineering - if I had done only Engineering it is unlikely I would have heard of them either.

They're commonly used / referenced within the IT industry anyway.
