I'm trying to create a Buff that generates a "doppelganger" (a person's Double, that is kind of "illusion", google about it...)

The triggers:

Trigger:
  • Doppel Strike
    • Events
      • Unit - A unit Is attacked
    • Conditions
      • ((Attacking unit) has buff Doppelganger ) Equal to True
      • DoppelBoolean Equal to False
    • Actions
      • Unit - Create 1 (Unit-type of (Attacking unit)) for (Owner of (Attacking unit)) at ((Position of (Attacking unit)) offset by (0.00, 0.00)) facing (Facing of (Attacking unit)) degrees
      • Set DoppelUnit = (Last created unit)
      • Animation - Change DoppelUnit's vertex coloring to (100.00%, 100.00%, 100.00%) with 75.00% transparency
      • For each (Integer A) from 1 to 6, do (Actions)
        • Loop - Actions
          • Set DoppelItems[(Integer A)] = (Item carried by (Attacking unit) in slot (Integer A))
      • For each (Integer A) from 1 to 6, do (Actions)
        • Loop - Actions
          • Hero - Create (Item-type of DoppelItems[(Integer A)]) and give it to DoppelUnit
      • Unit - Order DoppelUnit to Attack (Attacked unit)
      • Unit - Add a 0.50 second Generic expiration timer to DoppelUnit
      • Set DoppelBoolean = True


Trigger:
  • Doppel Death
    • Events
      • Unit - A unit Dies
    • Conditions
      • (Triggering unit) Equal to DoppelUnit
    • Actions
      • Set DoppelBoolean = False


So, only one doppel can be created for each 0,5 seconds. The problem is, it keeps generating heroes (and that fucks up the Hero tab, on the left vertical of the screen).
And I wanted to make it generate a "copy" of the targeted hero (doppelganger is an "acid bomb" which doesn't damage [target = allies] but gives the buff Doppelganger for 20 seconds.)
So how can I make the "doppelganger" not a hero, but still give him the same stats, atk speed, items, etc, of the Buffed Unit (Target)???

Kind of confusing.... post any doubts...

You can't create a Hero then turn it to an image
Create an ability based on Item Illusion
Whenever a hero gets the ability, create a dummy unit
Order dummy unit to cast that ability on the Hero
It works...

I tried to do that, but item abilities have no order string to use / activate..
I tried giving it the acidbomb string order, and then make the dummy to Neutral Alchemist - Acid Bomb the attacked unit...
Didn't work... Any help here?

Make a dummy unit and give it an item with the Item Illusions ability. Order the dummy to use the item on the Hero.

I gave the dummy an inventory [unit inventory], but the item created still drops on the ground when the trigger activates..
Maybe the problem is that Hero - Create (item) and give it to (unit) ?
This unit MUST be a hero?

I don't think so, I tried it once. Maybe adding Inventory(Hero) would have a different effect.

Half-working...
When I attack, the item sometimes falls on the floor...
Any ideas?
I really hoped this spell would be easy to do...

The make it into a Hero's ability.
You can do that.

But if I make it a hero ability, it doesn't get an order string.. I tried to make it an ability and give it a order string, but it didn't work... (post #4)
Anymore ideas?

You can order a unit to use the Item Illusion ability with it's integer order id, here:
Trigger:
  • Custom script: call IssueTargetOrderById(dummy,852274,target)

I ordered the unit to use the item using Hero - Use item, and that works..
the problem is that sometimes the item is created and falls on the floor..
Any explanations?

Instead of a wait you should add a generic expiriation timer.
And remove the boolean, it might be causing the problem.

If I remove the boolean, it can spawn an infinite number of copies...
I just wanted it to spawn 1 copy at a time, so, I needed the boolean...

The problem might be caused by that even if a unit has the inventory ability if it is not a hero the item that is carried will drop anyways.
Put this action at the end of your trigger so it removes the item after the unit dies.
Trigger:
  • Item - Remove (Item carried by (Last created unit) of type Wand of Illusion)

Hope this works!
