Dota:Is it dying?

Dota has 90+ heroes, true! but most of them have all the same generic gameplay, which is:
Stun, then attack attack attack.
or
Active orb, then attack attack attack.

this is soo poor. It's incredible that stupid things becomes so famous amoung stupid persons...

-look that cheap tiny, everyone plays the same with him:
avalanche then toss then attack.
-Or worst, the godamn lina:
do the stun, the dragonslay then use ultimate, if you can also use dagon, then shivas then unleash the friking hell.
-we also have the pevisible witch doctor:
maledict, then stun, the cast ultimate (with lothars if you have).
-don't forget the skeleton king with his ONLY ONE ACTIVE SPELL!
-or that guy named rikimaru...what a lame, this is just about get invisible, than blink strike, a smoke bomb and then you hope and pray to god you can kill the enemy.

The best heroes of Dota are nerfed, I don't know why, but they are:
seer, invoker, meepo, puck, when people use them, most of times I see them dying ridiculously, because I only see 10% of those who play with those heroes doing it well.
Although, almost everyone who plays with phantom lancer, rikimaru or skeleton king becomes owning machines even if they don't know how to play.
The heroes that are easy to play are too strong, and those who are hard are nerfed! This is madness, we have a complete inverse sense in this cheap game.

Well you are right and there should be some buffups , like introducing an item with pasive Engineering Upgrades derived ability that replaces hero's abilities with the same abilities damage wise but lower cooldowns so that intelligence heroes still have a chance after 25 minute mark . And also make spells benefit from intelligence like increased spell damage by 200*intel/(100+intel)% more damage . that way getting intelligence grants damage with diminushing returns up to 200% more damage and 100% damage bonus at 100 intelligence reached .

Since the heroes mostly use ladder abilities ... they made backstab , blinkstrike and some new ones but still ye olde critical lifesteal pwns so i think i'd be better off playing BvO where it's not that much difference but it's a player arena and noobs in your team don't hamper the game that much .

I wish they made Hon or LOL free and available within ASIA. If they make it free-no subscription, I bet there are many who are willing to shift to it.

League of Legends is free, requires no subscription, and is going to be distributed in Asia by Garena.

Not becasue I enjoy the game, but becasue I am fucking tired of hearing about it.

It's like the Sarah Palin of gaming, its fucking ignorant and never seems to go away.

DOTA is not even that great of a map. It's a flat piece of terrain with scattered buildings. Nothing at all spectacular. Looks like a map my mom could throw together, yet i think it is funny how the die hard DOTA fanatics will give up thier life to defend what I consider just another bullshit Hero map.

From your description, you tend to play solo very well.
It's the teamplay that makes the game fun. Tiny is not just about Avalanche and Toss and attack, attack, attack... =.= But yeah, I do agree with some of your descriptions.

You guys miss interpreted what I previously said. Some where in this year Icefrog intends to release DOTA standalone with Valve gaming. This game will be DOTA not a spin-off. It is exactly the same game without the limitations of Warcraft.

Of couse it won't die off completely, but I imagine it wont be very popular in sc2 or wc3 fairly soon. HoN is working very well for the AoS sort of genre for the competative scene and LoL is great for the casual gamers in my opinion, which covers most of what DotA appealed to.

Your argument is completely flawed.

First, Dota is not popular because people are retards. Dota is popular because its about pwning noobs. Who doesn't like that? Everyone. Exactly my point.

Second, your opinion is just that: your opinion. Calling a game poor or retarded because half the heroes don't have "cool custom spells" is absurd. Dota is first and foremost a teamplay game. Even powerful ganking heroes like Clinkz, PA, Lucifer, or yes--Invoker, etc. are only as good as their team setups are, and the setups of their opposing team. Anyone who disagrees has a very low elo that reflects their flawed sense of fair gameplay. Simply that.

Third, just because a game appeals to a wide audience doesn't mean its not a good game. And calling them all retards as you do speaks volumes about your own intelligence and taste.

As to the topic, I think it is slowly dying out. Many players are moving onto LoL, HoN, or other games. Plus, with the release of Star Craft 2 next week, I imagine there will be an approximately 35% drop in Dota games for the next 2 months. With that said, I think it will be many years that "dota" as we know it becomes a has-been.
