Something causes the players of my map to download the map extremely, unnaturally slow occasionally. Sometimes, they even get stuck after downloading 47 procent of it… I hereby declare 47 as my personal number of unfortune.

Could it be possible that a bug caused this?

this happens with many maps, usually the larger ones. it's something to do with the downloader not being able to connect to the host or B.Net, or vice versa, i think :/, if the downloader rejoins the game the download usually runs fine

Edit: i just realized i havent actually answered your question, which doesnt matter because im not really sure of the answer.

Even when I allow only one player to download my map, the download progress in interrupted when 47% of the level is downloaded. Something else must cause this problem.

This is obviously, a major blow to the reputation and success of my map. Truly, it's as if the Goddess Fortuna herself seeks to vex me, at best.

Could it be possible that an endless loop causes this problem?

Typically, downloaders are dial up. But cable downloaders have problems too for some reason. When the guys and I play online, we all have the same cable service and it downloads in the bat of an eye. But other cable users sometimes take forever.

I do know this. A download typically stops because the person he was downloading from left.

You host a new map. There is 8 people waiting for download.
One other person will download from you.
When he has the map, one person downloads from you again, and one person from him.
As more people get the map, more people are downloading. Like a pyramid.

Someone leaves after getting the map. His downloader stops downloading. He must leave and come back in to download again.

The players rejoined, but it didn't work, sadly.

Yet, I appreciate your bright remark and attempt to help me.

Players could download my map until recently. Perhaps a recent update is the cause of this problem?

A list of possibly somewhat suspicious updates:
-Added animation actions
-Modified the triggers which enable the Protection spell to work
-Wrote a trigger which makes all items drop from the hero of a leaving player
-Added several dialogs

Let me reinforce that the content of your map has absolutely nothing to do with people's ability to download it on bnet. Sure, the size of the map reflects how long it will take to download, but it has got nothing to do with, say, getting stuck atthe 47% mark as you mentioned.

The real problem is often something more mysterious, and it will probably always be, because we don't know how blizzard programmed this feature of battle.net. Ryoko's observations are probably the best source of info you will find anywhere. There are just too many factors involved in pinpointing the exact problem unfortunately. One example of a possible cause would be bad routing performance on the Internet between a downloader and downloadee. This is of course something that neither ourselves or blizzard can have any control over.

Well, if more people got it from wc3search, then the problem would be reduced, but there is no guarantee of eliminating it completely.

Perhaps 47% is your lucky number, simply because your connection to the downloader cuts out after so many bytes.

Then perhaps, if your map was half the size, it would cut out at 94% instead (which would be more torturing)

(Hmmmm....nobody seems to download my stuff from wc3sear.ch, only from worldofwar.net)

[edit]

Does this imply you got your hosting capabilties working? :)
